Barclays Gadget Insurance dispute.

controversy
Early this year I tried to change the retail price of my Laptop via the Barclays LSG website. There where numerous problems with the website and I couldn't access my account. I asked various customer service assistants if they could change the covered Laptop price according to retail value and they declined. They said I need to do it via the website.
After about 2 months I just got sick and tired and decided to give in.
My luck couldn't of got any worse since I had a Laptop accident the following month.
But to cut a long story short Barclays LSG Gadget insurance have offered me a cash settlement based on a budget Laptop and not an Ultrabook which I sent in for repair.
They offered me £319. I find this a slap in the face because it would cost me £489 to buy a Ultrabook of the same specification. And whenever I raise this point to them they say the max they can offer me is £400 based on the proposed retail value which I submitted on their website. I have argued that I have tried to change that value time and time again but my account doesn't seem to work on their website.
So it is basically my word against theres.
Essentially they haven't made any loss since my old Laptop only had screen damage which could be repaired for £50 and it is worth £300 without any repairs.
I took Barclays First Additions willingly. It wasn't a account transfer. However I have paid at least 10 years of fees and i am slapped in the face like this.
What are my options?
Can I take this to the Ombudsman?

Did you keep a record of all the times you couldn't access the website and the times you called about the problem?
Did you ever write to them telling them about the problems? What will your verse be?

When you phoned them, did they take you through security? If so, I would expect them to have left some notes on your account. Also, if it was within last 6 months I think they are obliged to record phone calls.
So the key question is, did they take you through security to identify you? Just call them and point out you tried to get the price changed0
