Thank you, I have followed those steps as illustrated in the link, but the photo is not saved to the contact!! the photo has been imported from my PC into the gallery the size is 448x336 (119Kb)

In my phone I can do this the other way round:
Go the the gallery directly. For any photo tap Menu >> More >> Set as >> Contact icon >> ...0 -
Hi, just read the comments on that link and they say both contact and photo have to be stored on the SD card. In my case the contact was established before the SD card was installed so where would that contact be stored on the SIM or phone memory? in any case the contact will have to be exported to the SD card. how do you do that?

Normally contacts are stored in the phone memory (and get synchronised with your google account).
I don't see where it says that both the contacts and the photos have to be on the SD card.0 -
Hi, if you go to the link scroll down to the bottom of the page then 'Richard Ellingworth' has made the comment.

Some contacts can be stored on the sim card only (can be imported to the memory if needed).
He is correct that you can't add a photo to a contact stored on the sim.
He is wrong that contacts are stored on the SD card.
They can be exported to a SD card, but only if you want to move them elsewhere.
Yet another way is to add a photo on a PC in your google account, then synch contacts from your phone.0 -
As you suggested going from the gallery works for me.
Thank you for your help (android novice)
