I cannot answer this I'm afraid as each landlord is different and when my mate let a property he allowed one student to pay upon receipt of there grant and they kept to there word.
Worth a go if all else fails.0 -
Are you renting individually or is it a joint tenancy?
If you are renting as an individual then yes if you cannot pay and if he chooses not to allow you an extension then he would stop you from living there.
If you are renting jointly and this is just your share of the combined deposit then the landlord may tell your friends and may also refuse to let any of you live there until the full deposit is paid.
You say you are £600 short - how soon will you be able to pay? what income do you have coming to you and when?
Failing that - what have you got you could sell to raise some cash?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Well I would be able to have the money next week when I get paid, but I'm just worried if I mention it to the landlord, he will tell me I can't live there. We are all renting individually I believe. There's 6 of us and we all lived in the same flat last year, and decided to get a house together0 -
Student letting agencies are usually very good with this. They're not going to throw away a house of people away because somebody wants to wait for their student loan.
Phone them up, explain the situation and agree to pay it all when your student loan comes in (You need to calculate how much your first payment will be from your student loan, you might have to work over summer etc to be able to afford it still)Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

Okay, thank you, I will try! I do have a part time job but it doesn't pay all that much. I'm hoping that if I tell him I can pay next week, he'd still let me rent it as I haven't moved in yet. Just incredibly worried0 -

Only tell him that if you actually will be able to afford it. They'll be more !!!!ed off about you not paying next week than they will be about deferring the payment to September.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. I just don't want to pay it in September because I have to pay another lot of rent around that time, and will have the money by next week.0 -
If its only going to be a week until you have the money then the landlord will most likly wait. It'll take longer than that to kick you out and find someone else.
just speak to him and explain it, most landlords will be reasonable about it0 -
And learn from it.
