Sites to sign up to when Pregnant

Afternoon everyone!

I am currently 18 weeks pregnant and am looking for suggestions of good sites to sign up to for pregnancy/baby free samples etc.

There may already be a thread somewhere that I missed when searching so feel free to put me in that direction if it already exists

Thank you :o

Hello RPS. Congrats! I suggest you join the ongoing thread

12-24 weeks pregnant (part 3) and have a root through. Loads of info on there and very nice to chat to ladies in this stage of PG.

    Thank you View!

I dipped my head in there earlier and must admit I was a little overwhelmed with all the chatter! I'll man up and go say hi now! :D

    Congratulations!
Can I suggest that you are very canny about this? They will give you the impression that you need lots of stuff that you don't!
Like that you will "need" loads of paraphernalia to breast feed; or that you should give your child "advanced milk" at 6 months.
So as well as taking every freebie that you can, also go to nct.org.uk (definitely find out your local "nct nearly new" sales, they are fanatstic)
    http://www.unicef.org.uk/BabyFriendly/Parents/
    http://www.your-baby.org.uk
and find your local children's centre or Sure Start centre on-line and pop along to find out what they have to offer.
    You'll be well prepared!
  • Set up a new email address for a start! Boots (I got a free changing bag, mat etc), the supermarkets, bounty - I'll second the comment about all the 'stuff' - most of it is completely unnecessary!

Thank you jackyann - fab advice. It looks like there's an NCT really close to me too!

Oooh hadn't thought about Boots! Is it the parent club I want to join?

Yea I've compared what the NHS say is an "essential" list with lists that other people have shown me and it certainly seems that people buy a lot of toot!

Local NCT groups are very variable - some fab & friendly, others struggle a bit more.
NCT classes are great but they are expensive - in some areas you get excellent NHS classes, in others not so much. If you don't have good NHS ones, do consider NCT.
But whether you join or not & whether you go to any NCT group or not, their "events" especially "nearly new" are very worthwhile.

I found NCT invaluable 35 years ago, and still have friends from the group, but am aware that others have very different experiences.
