    no wheel locking key,

Have you looked absolutely everywhere, including the glovebox, boot, door bins, under the seats etc? These things are often lost, not because they have vanished, but because owners use them so infrequently that they forget where the 'safe place' was that they hid it in.

If you really haven't got it, then get someone (AA/RAC/independent garage/guy down the pub) to remove them by fair means or foul, and replace with normal wheel nuts. At this age, your wheels are hardly a high-risk item and the locking nuts are not worth the hassle.
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.
  • It was for sale in an auction for a reason. Throw it back in an auction and cut your losses and buy something non French.
Trust me I'm speaking from experience, it will be a money pit if you keep it.

    Absolutely no way!

I know Charles Hurst group and they're huge - they're owned by Lookers. They simply wouldnt retail a car that old so they've pushed it out through auction. They probably push 50+ a week through Wilsons Auctions group over here.

Their cars and another biggie here (SERE) are the one i'd look for at auction because you know they havent been pawed over by the trade or doctored up for the occasion.

Spend a £100 sorting out the couple of wee issues and you've got a car there that'll still make that price in two years.

My friend in the AA has a box with just about every wheel nut possibility in it. Is there anyone living locally who may have one of these-

    Hi All,
    i bought a 1.6 petrol grand scenic,
not a fan of french cars but had to buy a 7 seater and that was only one in auction that day.

the price was ok, but some problems were, no wheel locking key, radio was locked, 2 windows were not working.

apart from that everything was ok, but the problem is i got no service history 70500 miles on the clock and says service due after 14000 miles.

the big question is should i get the timing belt changed or assume its been changed?

any Renault owners here please advice,

First of all congrats, you've bought one of the best family cars for space / facilities in car. - i have had 3, and they're great.

The locking wheel key, go to a local tyre place, £40 they'll replace them ( i just got standard wheel nuts put in, as who steals tyres these days?! )

Radio - im guessing youve unlocked this now? check the handbook, 4 digit code on a sticker.

2 windows not working, hmm not great, the motor mightve gone, or the wiring, either way, no quick fix there

after 70500 it mustve had a service, just to change oil etc, but i'd get it done asap. I had a problem with the car i bought, no service in approx 25k, as soon as the oil changed and a good clean, the performance was much better.

Wasn't it on this forum that there is an ebayer selling a replacement Renault electric window controller (that replaces the original and doesn't need coded in) for less than £20 per window?

Its a "reasonably" quick fix - or at least cheap anyway - usually one of two parts and both can be bought for £20 ish each.
