Reception on 3 sim only when roaming

Got me puzzled this one.

I have a dual sim phone and recently I have been getting no signal on my 3 network sim, the gg one is fine.

After lots of testing I find it does receive a signal when roaming and does not when not roaming, emergency calls only.

If I move the sim to another phone it gets a signal everywhere.

Not sure it can be the phone or it would not work at all (have swapped the slots still the same), not sure it can be the sim or it would not work in another phone (both Androids one 2 years old one Jellybean, Jellybean is the one that is not working right).

Three did suggest it was not a 3g phone so it would stop working after a while......it is 3g even have a text from 3 saying so.

Anyone with bright ideas as to the cause?
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.

For many dual-sim phones the second slot is 2g only. "Three" sim is 3g only.
    Just a thought...

Good thought (one I tested) but in my phone both are the same and I have swapped the sims around slots + I used to get 3g before it stopped getting a signal and I get 3g when it is roaming. + on asking if the sim was receiving 3G Three text says yes.

I could understand things if it did not work at all but to only work when not receiving a direct Three signal is strange.

Sounds like the phone is failing to operate on 2100Mhz

it might just be a ROM issue. so, you're saying that it was working before OK?

I suggest you try a cache and dalvik cache wipe in recovery.

have you done anything to your phone previous to this happening?

I have a similar issue. I think some dual SIM phones have 3g reception that isn't quite as good as you would hope.

I have a Xiaomi Redmi 1S and the 3g connection on 3UK is really good, I always get H+. What dual-sim phone do you have?
