If you're getting a regular income from Ebay, shouldn't you be declaring it to the Benefits Agency and tax office? I only mention this because I've heard that they're tightening up on this at the moment.

I didnt think it was if you sold things you already owned, only if you bought things to sell as this is a business.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

    Hi sammy18

Firstly, can you amend your Monthly Outgoings? We need to know how much rent you pay each month and how much council tax you pay each month. The arrears for both can go back down at the bottom. I think that is where you had them originally.

Can you also add the minimum payment you need to make each month for the two credit cards, for the Additions Direct Catalogue and the £25 loan with your ex?

The other catalogue and the overdraft are too small to detail in the outgoings at the moment.

Add anything else you have to payout for on a regular bases, like having your haircut and or the kids.

This will give us a true indication of how much you are paying out each month.

I am also on the sick for a nervous breakdown. If you do not mind me asking, what is wrong with you?

Also, what kind of property are you renting?

    Hi sammy18

You will find quite quickly that there are people that will try to help you and other that will slag you off. You just have to ignore the later in the hope that they will go away.

However, it is highly unlikely that anyone will help you with a credit card before we know exactly what you have going out each month. The sooner you can amend your outgoings the sooner we can possible help you with a credit card.

If you make £70 - £100 per week regularly then that's a business. You can't possibly be making that amount with selling your kids' old clothes! The tax office and benefits agency are not that daft!

  • I don't think it's anything personal - but it is a lot of money for benefits alone. I have never claimed a benefit and only manage to scrape 500 odd after tax and paying an IVA. Could the ex not help by taking the loan off you for a while - they are his kids too? Also please please tell us you have cut the cards up! The 30 for water - is that a rate or bottled water?

    to return to the question

I don't know of any credit company that will give you a credit card whilst you are on benefits, however some thoughts

If you are up to date with your payments currently, then you could ask your existing lenders if they will reduce your APR's on your current cards. That would mean you were paying less interest.

If you were able to cut £100 off your food bill, this would give your repayments an enormous boost.

Have a look at www.whatsthecost.com and put your current debts and repayments into their snowball calculator. See what your debt free date is. The add in an extra £100 a month (if your food bill dropped to £200), and see how much closer that debt free date becomes. Was a good motivator for me.

Best of luck with the crohns and the depression. I 'only' have depression and that is difficult enough with 2 boys, so I can sympathise a bit. Is your crohns regularly assessed ref diet and medication, as there have been a number of advances recently with medication, which might help calm things down in that area.
