Tesco Mobile DD taken from bank, I have no account with them!

Has this happened to anyone? A DD payment of £207.49 was taken from my bank this morning, marked as Tesco mobile. I've never been a customer and been with 3 for over 6 years. Bank have stopped charge and advised me to contact Tesco. Tesco have said its with their fraud dept and will get back to me within 48hrs. Worried that someone has used my bank details and crossing my fingers that nothing else shows up.

Get back to your bank and DEMAND they refund this money immediately.
You are entitled to this back under the direct debit guarantee. They may try to wriggle out of this, don't let them.

I've had interesting conversations with a bank before over just what "full and immediate refund" means in the DD guarantee. You have to push them, it's your money and you want it NOW. It's not for you to contact Tesco.

I think you've both misread the OP, the back has already stopped the charge. The advice to contact Tesco was because the OP had been defrauded.

The OP is concerned that someone has obtained their details.

Hopefully, Tesco's fraud dept will get back and confirm that it's all sorted. But be prepared for some probing questions - just in case they want establish whether you are involved in the fraud. (e.g. it was you who set up the DD mandate and got a phone, and now you are denying it to avoid payment.)

'Stopped' (the DD) is not the same as 'refunded'.
First thing I would do is log into online banking and check that th DD has now been cancelled. I'd also check the acc no. and sort code to se if that a/c is actually correct for Tesco Mobile.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Had a similar thing not so long ago with npower. My bank reclaimed the DD payment and within 3 hours the money was back in my account.
