Sky Web Chat

Amazingly, Sky Web Chat never seems to be available to talk about cancellation (always busy) but is always available if you want to buy/upgrade. Sky trying to tell us something?

Webchat is now the only alternative to telephone for "immediate" processing of cancellation notice, per the revised tv terms & conditions.
13 (c) Any notice you give us to end this Contract where you have a right to do so (other than where you are exercising your right to cancel during your cooling-off period for which see 'Your Rights to Cancel Your Order' section below)must be given by phone (03442 41 44 14) or by using our webchat service on sky.com. Notice given by these means will be processed immediately. You can also write to us (Sky Subscribers Services Limited, PO Box 43, Livingston, West Lothian, EH54 7DD) or email us via your My Sky account on contactus.sky.com. Notice given by these means will not be effective until we have spoken to you and verified your account. We will acknowledge written requests by return letter or email and will contact you by phone to verify you as the account holder and process your cancellation. Find out more information on how to cancel in the My Sky section of Sky.com

I cancelled recently via webchat. It took 15 minutes waiting on the page for an agent to become available and the agent then tried to get me to end the chat and ring , but did eventually process the cancellation after about 45 minutes, when I insisted.

I would phone, as then you get a UK person and no five minute waits between responses. Some web chat is from Asia.

I would always do a webchat. They can't hear the fear in your voice if you are cancelling for an offer! If you just keep the page up and wait for it to go green

I used the pauses to repeat that I wanted the cancellation processed, as the agent was using various tactics to delay/deflect the cancellation.

The agent conceded after I'd repeated it 6 times!:)

The ability to print a copy of the conversation is another advantage.

Absolutely. I would never cancel by telephone as you have no evidence at all of the conversation if the agent you spoke to doesn't press the right buttons or make appropriate notes.
