Number of rings before voicemail - htc Desire 3100

Hi, how do I set the number of rings before voicemail kicks in. My phone is a htc Desire 3100.

I believe that this is set by your mobile network. You'll have to speak to them but I suspect the option will be to either have it on or off.

EDIT looks like there are short codes to change this but its network specific, which network are you with?

You just simply need to type **61*121*11*xx# into your phone. (xx is the number of seconds you wish to delay it by and should be a multiple of 5 and can be up to 30 seconds.

Dial the following:
**61*901*11*30#[send]
where 30 is the max time in seconds. You can set it to either 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 seconds

Thanks rejsystems, I will go and try. As you have guessed I am new to smartphones!! Is there any way I can stop the phone transmitting whilst setting up my phone directory so to avoid calling by error.

set it to 'aeroplane mode' (phone will not transmit/receive)

hold the power button to get this choice

Thank you all for helping. The screen turns off after a short period of none activity - is this a 'low power state'? can this 'time' be altered.

Yes in android go to settings > display > screen timeout/sleep or similar.
