Car hire Majorca - old-style paper licence?

Hi, we are hiring a car next week in Majorca, husband will be driving but he only has the old-style paper licence. We have left it too late to get a photo licence in time. Does anyone know if the paper licences are still accepted, along with a passport for the photo? Am finding it difficult to find any up-to-date info online. Thanks

There should not be a problem, I used my paper driving licence last year. As long as it is valid, and you take your passport with you to the rental people. The paper licence has your birth date embedded in its number, so it can be double checked with your passport info if necessary.

Never had a problem with using paper licence and been going for over 20 years! One word of warning check fuel policy, in Mallorca especially you have to pay for a full tank of petrol and return it empty, massive con IMO and should be outlawed but worth checking unless you are planning on doing a lot of miles.

As long as the address and dates are ok on it and the signature matches up with your passport, then you will have no issue. I only got a new licence last year and had happily used my old green and pink licence for years with no issue.

Thanks for the reassurance. We have booked with Sixt, so no rip-off fuel policy, will be in the beautiful North of the island (so definitely need a car, fingers crossed) . Can't wait

Been using my tatty old paper license for years in Majorca ,no problems at all
Mine needs about the same care as the Magna Carta otherwise it will just fall apart
