Am I being ungrateful?

I have to say no, you’re not being ungrateful. 10 tickets to use in a month does sound ridiculous if this wasn’t made clear at the point of entering the comp (I would think you’re ungrateful if this was made clear though).
Even if you did bring 9 friends (admittedly I’d struggle to even find 3 others) to go cinema with, it could mean you watch any movie for the sake of using up the tickets rather than something you actually wanted to watch.
In my experience though, cinema tickets do sell very well and quickly on ebay so you could do a buy it now price and send it out immediately. When I go cinema I tend to buy vouchers from ebay a week before, sometimes even on the day if they can send a code via email.0 -
I'd go for the kind offer of vouchers, at least you will get something. I once won a year's cinema tickets at my local independent cinema & then they shut down! DOH!0

Top marks to the centre for offering the vouchers. A lot of places would have figuratively waved two fingers at you. :rotfl:Thanks to all who post constructively.
Have an A1 day!0 -
I once won a zoflora voucher which expired the day after it arrivedproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

I can understand your frustration that the cinema tickets are short-dated, they should have made that clear in the competition. However I think you were being a bit unreasonable to refuse the shopping centre vouchers, it's still something for nothing and you could have spent the money you saved on the shopping at the cinema! They aren't actually obligated to offer you an alternative but they are trying to help, so work with them.0

In theory the 10 tickets could be used by ten people in one sitting. If there were no time scales indicated eg 'win a years worth' then I think you are being unreasonable.
You have 10 tickets and there is time to use them - not like they expired the next day.
It's disappointing, I understand, but I don't think you have a valid complaint. The comp being a 'flash comp' sort of implies that they comp and the prize will be short term things.Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!0 -
just be bloody grateful you won something0

I think it's quite presumptuous to say the least that you believe you deserve a different prize to the one that has been offered to you.
No one has a right to any prize that wasn't offered, and you weren't offered "Odeon tickets with 12 months to use them," you were offered and received "Odeon tickets."
I am surprised that the shopping centre went to the the trouble of offering vouchers for the centre, and absolutely shocked that you turned them down. That is just ungrateful, and a real slap in the face to the shopping centre manager, who was actually bending over backwards to help you.
It's ingratitude like this - turning down two prizes - that makes companies think twice about hosting competitions in the first place. What a shame you weren't able to accept either of the prizes offered.
Incidentally, are you certain Odeon don't accept the centre's vouchers? In my experience, Odeon are often involved in shopping centre giftcard schemes.0
