Waste Disposal - Wolverhampton

Our council waste collectors have delivered our 6 month supply of rubbish and recycling sacks today. Actually, for 'delivered' please substitute 'dumped in driveway so that when I turned in I ran over both rolls with my car, rendering the majority of them unusable'. I would also like to thank them for amalgamating half a dozen of my neighbours refuse sacks into a big pile on the verge outside my house this morning, presumably to speed up the collection process, and for leaving me about half a sackful of rotting food (not mine!) as an additional gift. How could they fail to have seen a chicken carcass, assorted food wrappers and other scraps had been left behind! Very, very annoyed :mad:0

I've paid over £20 for them to call "within 10 working days" and they'll text me the day before they're going to come - appointment slot between 9am and 5pm.
I must leave the items in an area where they are accessible to the workmen.
I've just had a call on my landline to ask that the items are placed on the door step at 07:30 on Friday morning.
No text then. And from 07:30 onwards not 09:00. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
You could use someone like business waste we use them for our office bins. Sometimes these private companies are better and cheaper than the council.
Having said having just looked at their website that I don't think they do one off collections?0 -
When we moved house we arranged for the council to pick up an old sofa. We left it outside of our old house (which wasn't empty yet) whilst we moved some stuff to the new house. In between the two houses was a park but obviously had to drive the van the long way around.
Anyway, we came back after 2-3 hours and someone took the sofa to the park and set it on fire. Turns out it was a bunch of people in my class at school.
At least we didn't have to pay for the pick up!
Here you pay when you arrange the collection so would have paid already.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I was quoted by the council to remove my old bathroom suite. Same thing, up to 10 days for collection. I called a mate who has a van and paid him £10 instead, he came the same day.
Try posting on Facebook, someone with a van will reply !0 -

Yeah, but will they dispose of it legally and will they have a licence to carry and dispose of waste?
If dumped, the waste originator can be prosecuted with the person who dumped it.
I would sooner do it right than do anything half a*sed. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

Yes he has a permit for the local tip.0 -
My council imposed this wonderful large item charge. They now have to take money from other services to keep it running as hardly anyone uses it so the budgeted income is not there. They also have to take money from elsewhere to clean up the increased fly tipping, coincidence ? The total cost to the council is now way higher than when the bulky collections were free. The law of unintended consequences. Next their wonderful plan of charging for the previously free car park whilst at the same time traffic wardens have been removed to save money :mad:0

Slightly off topic but still relevant - there's a website called skipandbin.com where you basically just type your postcode in and it shows you the cheapest skip hire company in the area (I guess it's basically just like gocompare). No need to thank me guys :rotfl:0

My council used to charge £3+VAT to remove bulky waste e.g a whole 3 piece suite, and collect within 3 days.
Now that it is a unitary authority, its now £20 and within 10 days with no notice of when they will collect, you have to leave the stuff accessible at all times.0
