Carphone Warehouse

Hi
My first ever 2 year contract is at an end.
Present deal
Talkmobile (excellent coverage)
Samsung Galaxy Ace (poor phone with small memory)
250 minutes calls (excellent)
1000 texts (excellent)
500 megs data (not bad on 3G)
Cost: £7.70 per month (excellent price)
Been to Carphone today to hopefully upgrade phone and keep same deal.
Result: they were not really interested and just tried to rip me off.
Any suggestions please.
I may have to just put up with phone and just carry on paying even though I am out of contract.

I used to work for Carphone and remember that deal was not one which made any money. Margins were very thin and the deal was really offered to get smartphones into the hands of people who would not normally have gone for that sort of phone paying upwards of £15/month.
I can only assume that you were offered a range of deals that are the norm for the market and CPW aren't doing this deal anymore.
Perhaps there is another retailer or network offering such a deal and you can switch over?0 -

So, what are you saying? Stick with my handset cos I have a great deal?A watched pot always boils. :j0 -
I can better that with a cashback contract (the only thing I ever use). The phone is slightly inferior, but you can use the existing one and sell the one which you get if you want (I always do).
Of course, cashback only works when you get the cashback and so you need to know what you're doing. You're most unlikely to get such a good deal otherwise.0 -

If that's enough allowance for you you could always buy a better phone and put the sim in it. You don't need a new contract to get a better phone.Sigless0 -
just buy something like a lumia from carphonewarehouse on pay as you go, £79 and put sim in itDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Sim won't fit. You will need a micro sim - at least I did for my Lumia 720.
But in general, PAYG handset for under £90 plus your current deal looks good to me. But check out TESCO as well.0 -

Same phone, same deal for me which ends this month. I did consider a Galaxy 3 mini (£12 per month, same deal) as CW are doing a good trade in deal online on that phone and by going via Topcashback it would have brought the overall deal to under a tenner a month.
However I went for a Moto G via Tesco instead and it's a very nice phone, £10 a month on a two year contract with the same calls, texts and data as I had with Talkmobile.0
