I can cross stitch and I've completed a few BUT I find it quite boring now. So I changed over to embroidery. I love redwork I think its simply lovely. I like free motion machine embroidery too.
I'm now trying crewel and its lots of fun. I'm quite lucky in the fact that I have a little haberdashery so suppliers send my freebies. So I just trying a dimensions crewel kit.
I also find aimee rayes books - doodle stitching quite inspiring but have you seen the stitch with embroiders guild magazine....picked my first one up yesterday and completey inspiried.

Hi girls,

Seen an advert for the embrioders guild in town - is it worth going to - I only do cross stitch (with speciality stitches sometimes) and blackwork - do you think they will be ok with me?

Sweetcarer: Best thing is to go along and see. You might be inspired to learn something new and take up traditional, freestyle etc for yourself.

Winniepooh: No, I haven't used Craftsy (apart from being in their blog contest last year ), but their hand embroidery course looks quite good. BTW You aren't allowed to post a link to your blog... I've had a few posts edited from on high for doing that without realising, so I thought I'd just give you a heads up.

Wee update time

Band 12 complete



Close up


This band contained upright rice stitch (the outer edge), should of been diamond eyelet stitches but I misread instruction and done diamond smyrna stitches and in the middle I did upright cross stitches instead of the upright rice stitches again.

Next band - no.13 - is just cross stitches. I am now about two-thirds the way through.

Hope everyone is well, I am hoping to go along to the embrioders guild meeting on the 22nd, so see how it goes.
