Iam on a 12 months sim only contract with 3. Iam on the one plan for £15/month and it allows unlimited tethering which is not available for new subscribers. My contract will expire in 3 days and they told me that I can keep it to run on monthly basis but am wondering if I should lock it for another 12 months!! Just worried if I keep it monthly that they may introduce some changes later on...advice please

Locking yourself into N months doesn't stop them from introducing charges.
They can do this regardless and you can just leave early without charges if the changes are significant.

You also can't renew your One Plan tariff anyway so it's a non-starter idea.

The One Plan is only available to those who have it now, you'll be able to keep it on a 30 day rolling basis, just don't upgrade or agree to change to one of the newer plans to get free 0800 and cheap 0845/0870.

Just keep on as you are and you will keep the current plan.

And dont be tempted by offers of a free phone or any freebies. Probably means a new contract.

Thank you guys..actually 3 never called me to my surprise.. I was just by chance clearing some old files when I found that my contract will expire on 25 July .. I phoned them and they said it is up to me to contact them at the end of my contract..as the upgrade team was not available after 6 pm they asked me to call tomorrow.. Shall I just leave it and not call and then it will automatically becomes a monthly contract ?

Your contract never 'expires', only the minimum term does. Do nothing and it will continue on the same basis until you give 30 days notice.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I'm on the Three One Plan, 30 day at £18 per month. Despite the price increasing for new customers (before the plan was scrapped for new customers), mine remains at £18. So my advice would be to sit tight and enjoy the deal at £15/month on a 30 day basis for as long as it lasts... Much better value than any other deal I know of, if you want unlimited data and unlimited tethering.

As another post mentioned, don't be distracted by deals including 08 numbers as support lines should all now be using geographic numbers and 0800 can be called for free using Skype.

Three seem to leave existing customers alone and keep quiet about older deals. I still have a 3 Skypephone (model S2 I think), that has totally free Skype use without needing any credit on it's PAYG SIM! These ceased to be offered years ago, yet the infrastructure to support Skype over the Three voice network is still there and working. It works using a voice call, as opposed to the usual Skype App that uses data.

If you are happy to continue as you are, don't phone them. Your minimum term is ending, NOT your contract. This will continue to run on a 30 day basis until you give them the required 30 day notice to terminate.

The only reason they want you to speak to the upgrade team is to try and get you locked into another minimum term (on a new t&c's contract).
