Petrol Can

Ahh, that old myth that you can't put any petrol in a diesel car0

Yep, in the olden days we used to add a bit of petrol to a tank of diesel in the winter to stop it from turning to wax. Mind you, that was in the good old days when a diesel engine would run on pretty much any old carp that you could lay your hands on, none of this DPF, DMF, electronic whatshamacallit nonsense0

So what colour can should I keep two-smoke mix in? Blue-grey?0

Old Merc's used to state in their handbooks that you could mix up to 30% petrol per full tank, in the extreme cold.
And you can run a petrol motorcycle on 20% diesel if you want the neighbours to think it is a 2-stroke. Don't ask me how I know this.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
As far as I know, there are regulations that cover how big the cans can be, how much can be stored
For petrol yes (5 litres in a plastic can, 10 in a metal can), but not for diesel.
Personally, I keep a 5 litre can of diesel in the boot.
Although I always fill up when the fuel light comes on (computer shows 50 miles left), I'd rather not take the chance of running out, hence the 5 litres in the boot.
If it ever gets below 25 miles left, in goes the 5 litres.0 -
