Cancelling Virgin Media BB and landline for free Sky broadband

I have the Sky Sports TV package but my Broadband and landline are with Virgin Media. I am tempted by the Sky Sports 5 two years Free broadband offer.
If I go with it what is the best way of ensuring I am not without broadband for any period ( I need continuity as I am self employed ). I also rely on the Virgin Media Cloud as a back up for my files so assume I would lose that if I leave Virgin.
Any advice from anyone in a similar situation who has gone down this route with this offer/or considered it and rejected the offer would be gratefully received.

Since you will need a new BT-based landline to get Sky broadband (or indeed any ADSL broadband), it's perfectly possible to overlap the two services, if temporary service loss is an issue.
PS: using any residential contract to run a business on is breach of the T&C's.No free lunch, and no free laptop

My advice is..don't do it. Virgin broadband is by far the superior service and you'll REALLY notice the difference (negatively) if you switch.
As macman says, you really shouldn't be using a domestic internet connection for business purposes.0 -
OP, I agree with the advice given above. The 'free' broadband from Sky is regular ADSL not fibre, and I imagine with Virgin you have a high speed connection.
If you are out of any minimum term requirement with Virgin (which I guess you are as you are thinking of switching), give them a call and see if they can reduce the cost. Just becuase it's free, it doesn't necessarily make it good value for you.0 -
My GF has BT/Sky broadband & using it is like a time-warp back for me, It was so slow - unusable after proper cable internet.Moneyineptitude wrote: »My advice is..don't do it. Virgin broadband is by far the superior service and you'll REALLY notice the difference (negatively) if you switch.

I was on holiday at a relative's house where they had the fastest BT broadband they could get.
Compared to my Virgin broadband, theirs was so slow.
I would never leave Virgin to go to ADSL.0
