Uneven tyre wear - suspension?
Noticed firstly a springy, tingling type noise coming from offside front whenever I go over any bump in the road. Then noticed the tyre on that side appears to be wearing quicker than the other. Both tyres are wearing evenly across the tyre, just one wearing quicker than the other.
Any ideas? I'm presuming suspension...

What is the wear pattern?
Centre band worn more than the edges? Over inflated.
Both outer edges worn more than the centre but even on both edges = under inflated.
Worn on one inner or one outer edge = tracking or other suspension fault.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Assuming the tyres are not at fault, then as above, check for damper wear by rebound, also check all front suspension bushes and joints, jack up and spin the wheels by hand too, check for wheel/tyre distortion and grabbing wheel bearings.
It can be quite illuminating getting someone else to drive your car whilst you follow in another car, moving around the car a bit if possible and watch to see how the wheels and suspension perform under load.0 -
You really need to jack it up and look, but a "tingling" noise points pretty straight to a broken coil spring.0

Definitely sounds like a broken coil spring to me. You want to check sooner rather than later. I've seen people ignore a broken coil spring, and eventually rip their top mount off and have the car resting on the spring alone with the strut having no anchor point on the chassis of the car.
Not worth it. Get it checked.0 -
Thank you kindly! It is a pretty quiet noise but definitely there. I can't see that the spring is broken behind the wheel but I haven't jacked it up or anything.0

Local mechanic had a look and said coil springs are fine. Hmm...0

Forgive me for stating the bleedin' obvious, but if a local mechanic looked under the car it would have taken him an extra five minutes to check the rest of the suspension - what did he find?0

What wear pattern do you have though?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

top mount or worn suspension leg is the first thing that spring to mind.0
