(to name just one BT reseller)
    What is a "BT reseller"?

Do you mean an ISP using IP Stream, or WBC, or something else? (ISPs using the first two aren't "BT resellers" as there's more to internet service provision than the backhaul to aggregation points, so I'm interested in the "something else")

They have us all over a barrel with the line rental they can increase it as much as they want because without a line you cannot get BB unless in a cabled area.

I would love to just buy a car and pay for petrol, and not have to pay for the roads, too. They built a WORLDWIDE superhighway, so you can peek at websites across the world. It's a bloody good deal already.

    Quick question,

Can I transfer just the line rental to the Post Office without affecting my broadband contract?

    .

Here are the T&Cs from PO Home Phone:
    http://www.postoffice.co.uk/sites/default/files/Broadband%20&%20Phone%20T&C%20A4%20online%20amended.pdf

You must take both the line rental and call service elements of Post Office HomePhone®. Post Office HomePhone® does not support carrier preselection
(the mechanism that allows people to select, in advance, an alternative communications provider or providers for their calls without having to dial a prefix or install any special equipment).

Where you ask us to, we will try to ensure that you keep your old telephone number, although we cannot guarantee this. We will try to keep the same telephone number for you for as long as we provide you with Post Office HomePhone®. However, we may have to change it for operational reasons, in which case we will let you know in advance.

My company can also do home phone line rental for £129 for 12 months and Carrier-Pre-Selection (CPS). Drop me a PM for details.
