in over 20 yrs and various accounts myself and my oh have never had cards with the same numbers.
Well that's very odd, as both our Visa cards and Mastercards have exactly the same number, issue date and expiry date. Its just the name and signaure which are different. These two accounts are with different banks as well. I have them here. I can't check my debit card though as I've lost mine and I'm waiting for a replacement.
I take it you and your husband have joint accounts and in the case of credit cards, an additional cardholder? (as opposed to separate accounts).0 -

We have the same card number, with different start/expiry (the chip broke on mine), and different CVV.
This is the same account, with the same bank, though.💙💛 💔0 -

But with your second scenario, both my husband's card and mine have the same long number across the middle. Shops don't keep a copy of the name of the person doing the transaction, so if my husband buys an item using his card, you would not know if I then returned it using mine. The issue comes when I don't have my card on me, so my husband gives me his. The numbers match, but if I sign using my signature they don't match. I guess we should both use a squiggle type signature and then it would not be obvious.
You're still missing the point to a degree. Regardless of whether the numbers match identically, the fact that there's a "MRS" standing at the till, but the card is for a "MR" will set alarm bells ringing, regardless of your relationship to the actual cardholder.
It doesn't matter WHO the card belongs to, it's not YOURS, and by allowing you to use it, your husband is breaching the banks terms and conditions. The shop has every right to withdraw the card from you should you attempt to use it, and your bank could refuse you further use of the account. Unlikely, but they are within their rights.0 -

I agree with you, I have a few dual accounts (credit/debit/charge), and the numbers are NEVER the same. Indeed, I suspect that having the same numbers would be a security headache if the cards were being used simultaneously in (for example) different countries.
I'm happy to be corrected, but I don't think it's likely.0 -

Debit cards on joint accounts share the first 13-14 digits and the final 2-3 are different. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Yes we do .
Joint acc with RBS have different numbers and on the statements are referred to as card 1 and card 2.
Santander cc OH was additional card holder with different numbers.
OH'S CC im an additional card holder again with different numbers.
Obviously there are a lot of accounts with separate numbers otherwise the refund issue wouldn't exist as the name doesn't appear on receipts. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Joint accounts are just as frustrating on the phone as you need to explain to people numerous times you cant speak to them or deal with the order until you speak to the card holder named on the order, just to meet a lot of screaming this is a joint account I have placed this order. Well the order doesnt have your name on so regardless cant speak to you. Just because you share an account it does not give you full authority to deal with other people's orders.0

RE this pushcahir thing:
The card receipt should have had a merchant number on the slip which will match up to the merchant number on the stores card reader. This is how refunds can be processed due to faulty good without the original transaction receipt.0 -
working in a call centre I hear so much of this all the time. Most people do say my grievance isn't with you but with the company and that's fine but I have heard so many things such as colleagues being called s**gs and c****. Its so unreal...and i always think would you be saying this to our faces.
Sometimes though, you could do your absolute best for a customer and that would still not be good enough - at the end of the day you just need to realise that some people do not want to be helped and just want to be rude.0 -

Haha so true!
I had a customer on the phone once who came on saying something like "YOU HAVE SENT ME ANOTHEr INVALID BILLING ADDrESS EMAIL! rawr". I took his details, loaded up his account and saw that his order had gone through as normal. He obviously had a delayed automated email due to an issue he had since ixed. No big deal, would have taken me 1 minute to explain. Well he turned it into a 10 minute saga - not allowing me to get a word in. I ended up putting the headset on the desk because o the verbal abuse and kept making the occasional "mmm" or "i'm sorry" sound without listening to him.
He ended up leaving and vowing never to shop with us again. I gave approximately 0 ducks.
There was also the "compo" woman whom I snapped with... She had to change her billing address to the correct one (her issue). I gave her the steps but all through it she was demanding compo 4 "our cockup on the website". The 7th time she asked I snapped and told her that it was her issue and I was going to hang up were she to continue!
And then there was the woman who started shouting at me because a 1 pound tester payment was done on her card (she gets it back)... Normally I'm cool with it and just take it on the chin but when she started accusing me o stealing her money I just told her that I wasn't dealing with her (she wasn't letting me speak) and that she had to ring back. To be honest though I had my motorbike (2k value) nicked that morning so I wasn't in the mood to deal with a 1 pound tester payment "stealing" issue0
