Ask to speak to their 'bill shock' team, not just a call-centre handler. They may agree to reduce the bill if you sign-up to an 18 month contract extension
  • Small Update...

thank you for posting the website link, ZHugeEX, I followed this and I was getting some response until they decided the Channel is only for sending in insurance documents. I clearly think Vodafone have some communication issues.

For anyone out there considering Vodafone, please think again, they are great until you run into trouble, then you will be faced with months of "yes we will call you back", then they don't, calling them, waiting in a queue, getting cut off.
I will use all social media sites to warn others in the same situation as me, that contract are bad for Children, cancel them immediately, do not renew whatever the sales person offers, it's not worth the stress in the long run.

Obviously I have done a lot of research regarding Vodafone and it's very clear they don't have a very good reputation when dealing with complaints and account issues.
Unfortunately for me Vodafone are sticking to their guns, blaming Onecom who take no responsibility despite they clearly mis-sold the contract. They sent me a copy of the voice recording when I agreed to the terms but conveniently don't have any of the calls regarding my concerns over the kids contracts going over their limits.
I would be happy to come to a compromise, but they are not budging so I will pay the contract off and move my numbers to GiffGaff. I turns out my partner has 45 Vodafone contracts at work and they are due for renewal, at least I can take some comfort in the fact Vodafone will lose out in some way, even if it's tiny to them.
Thanks everyone for your comments, good and bad.

If OneCom sold the contract they are the ones responsible for possible misspelling. Vodafone have never offered a capped contract option, however proving OneCom mis sold it after the event would be hard unless you had specifically asked to have a contract capped , they agreed, and it was in writing or recorded. It doesn't matter who the contract was for, only that the bill payer agreed to the T&C.

However other than Tesco I don't think any network guarantees to caps charges, its not a Vodafone specific issue, it would happen on any network other than Tesco (if you took the capped option) or on a PAYG account. Three will let you set a zero credit limit but specifically state that its not guaranteed to work in call cases.

Good Luck, best way forward is probably the Vodafone team

Not really. They will set a zero credit limit but will not guarantee it will always work.

From their T&C, the bolding is mine for emphasis..

6.17 As described in Section 6.14 above, we will send you a bill on a periodic basis, which will usually be monthly.

The bill will state the amount of the Charges due from you and the due date by which you must make payment. If you fail to pay your account on time, you will be breaking your agreement and we may Suspend or Disconnect you. In this case, you will have to pay any outstanding Charges. We may set a credit limit on
your account. If you exceed the credit limit we set, we may Suspend any or all of the Three Services you use until you have made a payment to your account. You should not use the credit limit for budgeting as the amount you owe is not capped or limited by any credit limit we set

They stopped doing the zero cap in March so only available if you took out the contract before then, and I think you had to have had it in place at the time ?

You can however "control your spend" now by logging into your account and setting it up yourself.
It's not just about the money

Talking parents into taking uncapped contracts for u13 children is misselling if they knew that the contracts were for children.

    It is isn't .....

There are parents who buy uncapped contracts for their children.

If what you have said is stated in law somewhere, please do enlighten me.
