    Thanks for these however, I have been told differently by our insurance and shelter (who advised me of the frustrated tenancy).

    I hope the tax people, too, tip him upside down to empty his pockets.... he's probably one of the 900,000 landlords who hasn't registered to pay tax.

    All after you're sorted out, of course.

    What a shower he is......

    Yes quite! I agree, I have a duty as someone who is likely to be FCA authorised, to ensure that HMRC are properly informed of everything.

    I do find it sad that some landlord are so awful, and take advantage of London renters!

    I haven't got any advice but I just wanted to stop by and wish you luck. It sounds as though you haven't been treated very fairly at all by your LL. I hope that you are able to sort out the situation quickly xx

    I'd be interested to know what they each said about frustration.

    both said that although we had a long time left on our lease as our landlord had made no effort to rehome us, refund rent, ensure our safety nor repair the damage then due to the nature of the fire (rendering the property uninhabitable) the tenancy is frustrated.

    The man has told a pack of lies, been a careless and negligent landlord and chosen the worst possible (from his point of view!) tenant, someone who has nothing to hide and every reason to be honest. Now the whole greedy edifice is about to come tumbling down about his ears.

    Once found out, I'd be surprised if any insurance company will touch him for any kind of insurance (motor vehicle, house, appliance, credit card, travel) without hiking up the premium he will have to pay.

    In the end, the few quid he made by being devious and untruthful will turn out to have cost him a great deal more than he ever expected ... and that's before HMRC start sniffing around.

    I've been in a house fire and I can only say he is lucky that he is not facing manslaughter charges - what might have come to pass if you had been deeply asleep?

    Karma = natural justice.

    Good luck.

    aww thank you Paddy's mum! you are very kind. I thought you might have meant with us!

    I dont wish him any harm, but its just frustrating and stressful for us. We are newly wed and just trying to work hard and have someone reasonable to live!

    We are also paying off debts and this has really not helped matters!

    Anyhow fingers crossed that this is all sorted soon as I am not sleeping and this is making me awful person to live with as my burns were quite bad and still causing quite a lot of pain!
