Getting to Glasgow airport

Have a look at this website to get traffic info and road closers for games

you could go the other route and take the A811 and go over the Erskine Bridge. It's longer, but might be quicker. (Just checked AA website - it says 51 minutes for that route)
I used to use that route when I was working in the West End, but couldn't face going through the town then on to the M8 at rush hour. And it's a much more scenic drive! (I live in Stirling)
With the M80/M8 you're on the motorway all the way so there won't be any road closures that will affect you, just heavier traffic which is much more difficult to predict.0 -
A Jeep Cherokee right up to departures seems an effective way.Turning left avoids some of the idiots (only some)0

Thanks Cazziebo, the Erskine bridge route was the one I was thinking of. The traffic 'hot spot' maps are looking a little red for my liking!0 -
Flights at half 12, so aim to be there for half 9 and get breakfast/shop:D Not really going to be much opportunity to go anywhere else that's open!
Whatever you do, DON'T use the M73/M74 option. I Travel to work in Rutherglen from Port Glasgow each day and since they introduced the "Games Lane" - Westbound at Junction 1, I have seen tailbacks around 2-3 miles long at 7.50am!
In my experience driving the works van around the area in the past few days Id definitely say the Erskine Bridge option is by far the best. I wouldnt anticipate any major holdups for you going between Erskine Bridge and the Airport as the usual traffic jams in that area are caused by people joining the M8 at the airport which is fortunately after where you would turn off.0 -
Thanks 8i6daddy, we would be taking the m80 anyway. According to traffic Scotland, there were no delays at all this morning around 9am although being the cynic I am, find that hard to believe! :cool:0

My brother flew out of Glasgow on Wednesday and said it was fine. He travelled through from Fife (left just after 6am) for an international flight that left at 11.30am. As long as you give yourself an extra hour, you should be fine. Can always wander round the Duty Free!0
