The stay in education or apprenticeship until the term after 18 has come in with those born 97/98. http://www.skill.org.uk/youth/page.aspx?c=309&p=430

Are you receiving child tax credits and child benefit for her?

Child benefit only had letter saying this will stop in September unless she goes onto further education .

Unsure of the family situation and there are far too many variables, for example, if you're a single parent and your daughter does claim Carer's Allowance (CA) she will become a non-dependent which means the following benefits - if claiming could stop: child benefit, child tax credits and if claiming housing benefit it could reduce as she will be a non-dependent.
If it's not too rude could be post your family circumstances and benefit entitlements, that way you can be better advised.

    Thanks

Can someone get CA if a parent is still getting CB for them?

Thanks, you will loose the Child Benefit as your daughter will be a non-dependent., for her to qualify for Carer's Allowance (CA).

Guessing from the reply she'll be caring for someone else, remember her claiming CA could affect that person's benefits, especially if they're in receipt of severe disability premium or even reduce the 'Care' component.

What concerns me is that she is claiming CA for the period between leaving school and starting further education/training - as the new leaving age dictates.

Why would she be doing this?

Who is caring for the person at the moment? Who will be caring for them afterwards?

Has anyone checked that the person being cared for isn't losing any benefits now that someone will be getting Carer's Allowance for them?

Has your daughter always been a carer for this person?

I share the same concerns and they should be addressed by laudan beforehand.

Unfortunately, in my current place of employment we see this regularly with people trying to claim benefits for a short periods.
