Hi
Well l I've finally received the keys to my new home and have one problem cats by my back doors. There are 4 in total.
I can only assume that the previous owner fed the cats hence why each time I open my back doors they come rushing, I thought one was going to crashed into the door it came running so fast.
I will not be feeding the cats but my main concern is the previous owner lived at the property for many years. I can't see the cats leaving anytime soon. It's been a week and they have been there day and night.
Any ideas on how I can stop the cats from coming in my garden and by my back doors.
Thanks

Shout or hiss at them or spray water at them. They'll get the message.0

I bought one of these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/331196074627?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108
There are 3-4 cats that used to walk through my garden, spray and .......
It has stopped 2 of the cats coming in completely, 1 of the cats still comes in occasionally and the other (next doors) still comes in daily but it no longer hangs around. It just passes through quite quickly.
Its not cured the problem but I have gone from having cat ..... in my garden 2-3 times a week to maybe once in 2 months since I bought it. Im debating buying another 1 or 2 to really annoy the cats and hope it just keeps them out completely.
I can hear it but it doesnt annoy me even when im sat in my back garden doing admin. I would rather that than the cats.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. What grievance do you hold against these felines?0

They treat my garden like a toilet, they come into my house unwanted.
Im sure if i went and did a dump in your garden or walked in unannounced all because the back door was open you would have something to say.
Its not my pet, it should not be my problem but it is and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it apart from spend my hard earned money to keep someone elses pet out of my garden.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. It may be worth checking if they actually belonged to the previous owner. If they have been abandoned the RSPCA or Cats Protection League will probably rescue them.
I once use a sonic deterrent against a neighbour's cats. It did not stop them coming into the garden but it either restricted or trained them simply to use the far end of the garden as a sort of crossing corridor. No more cat crap on the lawn, no more decapitated frogs and birds ...
PS you could try borrowing a dog for a week or two ...0 -

I see.
Well, I imagine this amongst other things such as the sound of the laughter of children or the peal of church wedding bells in the distance must be quite vexatious for you.
Nevertheless, fortunately for you I am an expert on cats and an expert on psychology, and cat psychology. And the psychology other other small mammals.
If you invest in a garden hose, as recommended in my hose thread from earlier:

A couple of squirts the next time they come in and you will doubtless find the meandering moggies will eschew your mansion for more palatable misadventures.0 -

Oh do stop being a git. People don't have to like having cats in their garden and house (and I speak as someone who would love it).0
