The plans as of 15th July 2014 allow a maximum of 4GB tethering (personal hotspot as they call it) with their 'all you can eat' data plans.
However all their sim only plans do now allow tethering as standard and comes out of your data allowance.
For sure? As usual Three's pages are ambiguous on this, e.g. if you buy a £10 calls & data add-on on 321 pay as you go, or just use the 1p/MB option, is tethering officially allowed?

On PAYG tethering is not allowed.0 -
I have the One Plan with Three and tether quite regularly. It's faster than my old broadband which only got about 4mb, however it's not as fast as the fibre optic we're now on.0

There is a 4GB limit for tethered data so unless you do only light web surfing and don't use iPlayer, Netflix etc then it isn't suitable as a ADSL replacement. 4G can beat most standard broadband, fibre in BT Infinity guise or Virgin cable is still faster usually.
I am using it for a phablet, three tell me it is OK and it really is all you can eat for netflix etc.0 -

I took out a rolling monthly sim only deal with Three a month ago and it has all you can eat data for tethered devices but the sim has to be in a phone (it blocked itself after being put in an old mifi device I had but immediately started working again when put in my old iPhone).
Not had any problems connecting, its 3G and so not very quick. Wouldnt try to use a torrent with this speed but not had any problems connecting my laptop to it without the need of VPN
Now if I could find a way to get my normal router (Apple TimeCapsule) to connect to it and thus extend the range and allow my wired only devices to connect to the internet that would be great but thats beyond me unfortunately0 -
You can tether on the "all you can eat" plan.
But with 2 drawbacks.
1) Has to be with android or iOS device.
2) if you want to tether your PC** you need to use a VPN connection first. (If you don't use VPN the data connection stops* and you have to go in to airplane mode to let the connection reset.)
*same with Torrents! if they notice a torrent connection being made they cut the data connection as well.
**Currently sending this via my PC Via a free VPN to my tethered three "all you can eat" plan phone.
So you don't have the One plan?0 -
I have the "one plan" on a self purchased Google Nexus 5.
When it works, it's great, but in certain area's of the country 3's mobile broadband is terrible. It hangs randomly for several minutes at a time.
They also have issues with their DNS servers, so sometimes some websites will randomly seem to stop working. You can only fix this my gaining root access to your phone and forcing it to use another DNS server (like Google).
Tethering is simple, really simple. I tether my laptop and tablet to it all the time, I even used it for my PC when my home broadband died.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Nope, all-you-can-eat on rolling monthly contract.
Looks like that have changed their tariffs around since the last time i actually check the site.
Tethering is available on new 24 month "all you can eat" contracts now but limited to 2Gb a month.Laters
