Tethering with three all you an eat data

Options
I am unhappy with talktalk of late, getting very unreliable. with line rental and unlimited BB its about £15mnth which is the same as going for a three all you can eat sim only 12mnth contract.

also 200mins with three, I am on internet only with talktalk.

Can I ask about tethering if I put that sim in my phone, could I use my phone as a modem easy enough on 4G for my ipad and laptop etc? Also my partners phone could get online with my phone as long as we are together?

Three allow tenthering on 'the one plan'. Or you need to purchase tenthering add on.

yes but is it as good as a modem?

I hear 4G is as fast or faster than my old broadband, but is it full of problems? We watch a lot of iplayer and youtube etc, also want reliable skype.

will I regret cancelling talktalk and going over to the one plan for £15mnth?

If you are tethering with a sim only phone plan then you don't get all your can eat tethering... There is a 4GB limit for tethered data so unless you do only light web surfing and don't use iPlayer, Netflix etc then it isn't suitable as a ADSL replacement. 4G can beat most standard broadband, fibre in BT Infinity guise or Virgin cable is still faster usually.

I live in the country and all BT could offer was less than 1mb. I have the one plan with the.....I managed to get it for £15 a month. It works great with my samsung s4.....my last month use was over 60gb......I stream tv mostly......just be sure your not too far from your nearest mast.

I think it was only recently that Three stopped unlimited tethering on the One Plan.

Yeah, existing customers were allowed to keep unlimited tethering.

I took out a 12 month contract less than a week ago and they told me unlimited tethering is still available.

My invoice says "all you can eat data inc tethering."

You got in just in time as they don't offer any unlimited tethering at all now.
The plans as of 15th July 2014 allow a maximum of 4GB tethering (personal hotspot as they call it) with their 'all you can eat' data plans.
However all their sim only plans do now allow tethering as standard and comes out of your data allowance.

It was the 15th July I took out the contract so very very lucky!

Not that I use tethering, but it's nice to have.

You can tether on the "all you can eat" plan.
    But with 2 drawbacks.

    1) Has to be with android or iOS device.
    2) if you want to tether your PC** you need to use a VPN connection first. (If you don't use VPN the data connection stops* and you have to go in to airplane mode to let the connection reset.)

*same with Torrents! if they notice a torrent connection being made they cut the data connection as well.

**Currently sending this via my PC Via a free VPN to my tethered three "all you can eat" plan phone.
