Ppi advice!!!

Hi was wondering if someone could help me, I had
A credit card yrs ago and took ppi with it, when I was
Made redundant I contacted Clydesdale bank and advised
Them of this they said although I had ppi I couldn't use is
Because of the benefit I was claiming, I had to be receiving
Job seekers allowance or carers allowance, I was receiving income
Support as me and my husband were separated, I don't get this,
I didn't choose to go on to income support this is the benefit u get
If your a single person with children, I have always worked and couldn't believe the first time I've been made redundant and I'm being told basically because I'm a single parent who was made redundant I don't recieve my ppi I've been paying for years, I appealed the decision and was still told this was correct but everyone I speak to about it can't believe it and say there's noway thats right they are discriminating against people in that category, any advice would be so helpful thank u x

You may get more help if you were to ask for this thread to be moved to the Insurance board,
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=21

This sub-board is supposed to be specifically for reclaiming bank and credit card charges :)

As I understand it, you bought insurance that failed to pay up when you believed you had a vailid claim. You appealed.
You should have been informed of your right to take the matter to the ombudsman if you did not agree with the insurer's decision.

If your a single person with children
If you have already complained to the Bank and been rejected, then you should refer your complaint to the Ombudsman who will likely look more favourably.

If your PPI will not pay up then you should put in a claim for it being mis-sold and try to get all your payments back - if it won't pay up when you are made redundant then it was of no use to you.

Have a look at the guidance for putting in a claim for mis-selling and the reasons you can state. If you have been paying it many years would you get more from a mis-sell claim than the cover paying out (I don't know what the cover pays - does it cover the minimum or pay off the balance?)

    Good luck
