Has anyone used the app yet? I'm flying with Ryainair next week so downloaded it but it just keeps saying I have no bookings to manage. I wonder if you have to actually book your flights through the app to be able to do anything?

It does not seem to link up with your bookings already made.

See post 12 - read the comments, I believe you can see bookings made if you log in as guest, and put booking ref in - I think the info about this is in the comments.

Seeing as I was once of the people who first had a winge about the new 7 day check in rule - much to the oh so perfect self righteous people who failed to see how it was a problem.....

I have installed the app on a galaxy S, quite a old phone now. It is a little slow in use but it found my upcoming flight, so that bit works. Navigating the app is not straight forward, the back button doesn't work. I think I will take a paper backup in case of problems. I'm hoping that once you have checked in using the app it still gives you the option to print one off on your PC? Can anyone confirm?

Don't login just click on continue as a guest, then you can put your booking details in.

There was something on their website abt using both the website and app:

I was about to buy a flight to the UK priced in euros but at payment stage there was no indication whether payment would be converted into sterling (with a hefty commission mark-up) or not. To be on the safe side I switched my booking to the Ryanair website to ensure I could opt out of currency conversion.

    Smart move or unnecessary?
  • Love it! Used it the other day to fly Dublin - Bristol. I was pretty sure it would be fine as Dublin is Ryanair's home airport. I had no problems at all, but I did make sure I had my phone charger just in case!
Annoying thing is it doesn't connect to Passbook on the iPhone like BA's app does, so you have to go into the app to get your boarding pass. Plus, even after you've checked in it still shows your flight and a big 'Check in' button, which is a bit confusing.
But it works, so no more praying I have enough ink in my printer!
  • What I do wonder is how it will deal with people holding non-EU passports. Currently we have to get our boarding passes stamped once they've sighted our passports. Does this mean they'll now just do it at the gate or are we restricted to the old paper printout only?

I just purchased Preferred Seating, then I could Check in/print out Boarding pass up to 30 days before the flights.

as others have said...Ryanair is fine once you read, understand and FOLLOW their T&C's.
I went with a party to Spain last month...no problems!

    Not available for you unfortunately.
Eligible customers must hold a valid Passport or National Identity Card issued by the government of a European Economic Area (EEA) country . . . .
  • Despite protestations to the contrary, Ryanair are still up to their old tricks, and for no good reason. Just sent them this:

"So, Ryanair has turned a new leaf, actually values its customers and has now stopped treating them as the enemy?

Well, not when it comes to printing boarding passes it hasn't. Consider this little gem.

Clearly you need to be able to print a boarding pass before you leave home prior to departure. But savour this. You can only print the return boarding pass for the return trip (a week later) on the day of departure! When you consider the time in the early hours when you have to leave home on that day, that is virtually impossible. I wonder why Ryanair would be so unreasonable as to impose this totally arbitrary time restriction on its valued (?) passengers.

Here's why. You can print the return boarding pass well before the departure date IF you agree to pay for allocated seating! Now any reasonable person would interpret that as a deliberate ploy to coerce passengers to pay for allocated seating. This is another of those 'hidden costs' that you were working hard to remove (weren't you?). So it appears that the new sqeaky clean Ryanair is not as sqeaky clean as it thinks. You just cannot bring yourself to run a straightforward 'no-catches' operation, despite your well publicised intention following protests at your last Shareholders meeting. Why not?

We can only conclude that Ryanair doesn't view its customers as the enemy like it used to do. It simply views its customers as somewhat detestable, there to fulfil the occasional sadistic tendencies of your management team. Oh, and in case you'd forgotten, to pay your salaries."

So, you're pleased to have the new app then?
