Hi Guys,
Myself and my fiancee are emigrating to the UK me from Ireland and her from Canada, I am looking for best offer 30 day rolling contract for unlimited data no usage policy or very high limit on fair use, maybe 300 - 600 mins per month UK calls & mobiles and unlimited texts.
We will both have unlocked mobiles and are not keen to enter into any huge contracts if possible.
any advice appreciated

GiffGaff or LycaMobile £15/mo
500 UK minutes
Unlimited UK texts
Unlimited Internet

Three 3-2-1 £15 add-on is probably the only unlimited data plan for those with no UK credit history.
Giffgaff is becoming quite heavily limited (it's only unlimited if you limit your use to under a certain undisclosed level, use above that level and they will ban you from using the unlimited service) and Lyca is 10GB before throttling.
Three offer:
300 min
3000 text
Unlimited data
For £15 per month.

I'm on that 3 tariff, 4G is included.0

Only if your truly hammering it. Chewing gbs an hour. Otherwise it is truly unlimited.0 -
I suggest that you wait until you are here and then know which networks can offer you a decent 3G signal in the required area. 3G is by no means universal in the UK; there are many blackspots, especially in rural areas. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

No one offers unlimited data use with no usage policy. Everyone has a upper limits, traffic management to slow your use or restrictions, the question is will your use hit those limits.
How much data do you plan to use and how. Tethering is usually off limits but data use on a mobile is OK.
If you want in house use for laptops and tablets look at a MiFi ,l they start at £40 or so plus £10 a month for a GB of WiFi use, and that my be an option for use at home.0 -

Some may recommend giffgaff but my advice is avoid if data in important. giffgaff recently banned 750+ customers from purchasing another unlimited monthly bundle because they used too much data on its "unlimited" data plan that it claims has no FUP. So at best you get 30 days of unlimited but slow data and if you use a lot expect to receive a warning message and/or ban. Some customers report using 15GB streaming youtube etc in a month and this triggered the ban. The other thing is many are suffering appalling internet speeds during the day rendering the service unusable. Just take a look at amount of data complaints and giffgaff's admission of capacity issues on its website community.
As suggested by others Three's 321 PAYG with an All in one 15 add on for £15 is good value and Three's soft data use cap is 1000GB per month. If you're ok with 1 month contract Three also offer sim only plans that also allow tethering (upto 4GB tethered) on the all you can eat data plans. If you use a lot of P2P torrents especially at peak times Three's traffic sense may throttle speed.
Best advice is establish what networks work best in your main use areas before committing. O2 3G UK population coverage is relatively low as is Voda.

Hiya guys giffgaff send me an email saying 'A warning about your data usage'. All data is used within rules on my mobile. What to do now???
There rest of email say: To minimise the impact your data use has on other members, we recommend:
Downloading large files which do not require an immediate use over a Wi-Fi connection
Where possible, carry out peer to peer downloads or larger downloads overnight – outside of busy hours
If you stream movies for many hours a day to your phone, perhaps see whether you can have lower resolution settings – often it's not possible to tell the difference on small mobile phone screens
Do not use your phone for activities which cannot reasonably be considered mobile use.
If we keep seeing a similar pattern of mobile internet usage activity on your account, then in order to protect the experience for the majority of members, this will result in you being unable to re-purchase an unlimited data goodybag, so please consider this email as a warning.
Any considerations anyone ? "0 -
Seems that their tethering software is also mis-identifying data used on windows phones as tethered and banning them, in some cases within an hour of topping up.0
