Delayed flight BA operated by American Airlines

Just flown from JFK New York to Manchester on a BA flight operated by American Airlines.
We were delayed 6 hours in total - 2 hours in the airport due to extreme weather conditions and then 4 hours just sitting on the plane waiting for a slot to depart.
As the plane was American Airlines with their staff do we quality for compensation?

No you don't. And as your delay was weather/ATC, you wouldn't have qualified even if you flew BA.

It was not a "BA flight" it was an American Airlines flight with a BA codeshare number. No claim whether weather or not
