Cancel contract - poor signal?

Options
Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can help me. 3 months ago a set up 2 contracts with Vodafone, and as that was a nightmare in itself, that is not the issue I have. Since the get go I have had little to no signal in my own home. In the past 3 months I have been back and forth with phone calls full of false promises and lies about "refunds for the months affected"

The 2 masts I live by have "both been repaired" around 2 weeks ago and followed their beautifully simple texts messages on how to re-register on their network... No joy. I have asked about a sure signal box but telephone customer services can't issue them and people in store want £100 for one. The one time I thought I was heading somewhere when I was told I would be refunded for any months effected has unfortunately never happened and no one since then wishes to honour such compensation.

Needless to say I am pretty cheesed off paying nearly £50 a month for 2 phones I can't use in my own house and now I'm at a point where I want to take my business else where. Where do I stand on getting rid of Vodafone without taking the hit on cancellation fees?

Many thanks in advance 😊

What kind of checks did you do on signal strength in your home location before taking out the contracts...?
  • I had a chat with a guy in store who checked my signal in my area and said it was strong and gave me some spiel on how Vodafone prides itself on its signal strength which is why "we don't do unlimited data packages because the quality of the signal we put out"

...... I should have smelled bulls#@t there and then....

No network offered coverage in all locations, They can't due to the nature of the fact its a radio based service and they have no control over house builds.

Do you get a signal outside your house? Networks specifically state they cannot offer guarantees inside houses as there so many possibilities if could be the metal in your walls is causing the issue,

You probably need to write down a timeline of what happened and when, did you specifically say it must work at home in store, that may strengthen your case. Can you say when you called Customer Service (maybe by referring to any itemised billing you have).

Put it all down in a letter, try to keep it to the facts, and sent it to Vodafone at the address on the back of your bill, Use a recorded mechanism, and see what come out.

Will you get a cancellation, hard to say, if you use the phone a lot when outside the house it can be argues that you are getting use form the contract, even though its annoying not to use them at home. However written complaints are easier to follow op on later than a call where details may not be logged.
