i ditched it. there's no way I was ever going to agree with them on their tags, so I'd be doing them over and over.
And I thought, if they know what tags are needed for each line, why on earth am I doing this?!0 -

I thought the same. Doing the task over and over again for maybe not even £5!. I think the project finishes in two weeks anyway.0 -
I got fed up with this project during the training as spelling obscure names seemed too subjective. What does it matter if a clipped mumble is spelt pop or poop as long as the right tag is applied. Also, when is a background noise not a background noise... I don't know if the whole exercise is to validate their transcription or encode a transcription phrase myself for their use...0

Sorry to hear of the problems people are having with the transcription project.
They seem to have over recruited to the project I'm on so my hours keep getting restricted and reduced which is very frustrating!!
They've over-recruited for the past 2 projects I've done with them so it's interesting to hear they've done the same with the transcription! It's good for them because they know they'll get their data done, but bad for those of us who want to work much higher hours and earn more0 -

The main reason for this was because well over 50% of the transcriptions were from non-English speaking people and it took as many as ten plays on some audios to interpret properly. And they haven't been QC checked yet, there is every chance I will have to go through them again to correct what they say are errors, so that's bringing the hourly rate down even further!!!!
I totally agree with degreesofsep. The targets are impossible. I have done more than ten batches and I am yet to finish in one hour. It takes me closer to two hours to complete a batch, the background sounds are not clear and in many cases the clips are not long enough to tell (judgment is probably subjective for the most part), and it is so incredibly boring.
My shoulders ache, I feel nauseous and I want to crawl in a corner and cry! I am grateful for the opportunity and will appreciate the money but I don't think wild horses could drag me back after this.
I haven't been sent any back yet - but how long do they take to QC. Every day I fear opening my email account in case there are loads of them in there to do over.0 -
Is anyone else experiencing late payment this month? This is the longest I've waited yet.0

Definitely hassle them about it. They don't seem to be the most organised outfit when it comes to scheduling pay and since it's so late in the month they might have bodged it up somehow. Mine came on the 17th.0 -
Thanks for the replies. I did email my project manager two days ago but have not heard back yet. The communication with them sure seems slow.0

Has anybody who did the transcription project heard anything about payment for November? Is it all automatic or did I need to submit an invoice or something?
I realise from this forum that they always seem to be late. It would be nice to know if it is imminent or not. I have emailed my project manager.0 -

I made an account to reply to you as it annoys me when I have no information and it appears I've had a little more success than you in getting a response.
I emailed the project manager last Monday, got a reply but from someone else. I haven't heard anything since.
"the work completed in November will be paid altogether instead of in 2 batches, and should be issued fully this week or as soon as possible"
Unfortunate for me as the first half of Nov was supposed to pay for my wife's Christmas gifts. Now I don't know if I'll get it ordered to be delivered in time!0
