Thanks. Dark blue metallic, cream leather. No visible rust in those areas.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

One of mine was blue with cream - had upgraded alloys. Got £2495 from this one from memory

Paul, was your car written off - twice?
This is a bag of bolts, if it was clean it would be £2995, as is, it is what a numpty will pay to sit behind a propeller.

a 12 year old car heading for 100k declared cat C and no service history

I for one would not look twice at that car, it will have to be a private sale as the trade will not be interested unless it is sold for next to no money

stick it on e bay with a buy it now price and see what offers come in, if you want to put a bit of time in to maximise your return then try and track down some service history as this will make a difference to the price you get, as said before try the previous owner and also try BMW who should have the history until it stopped being serviced by the the dealer network

the cat C will drop the price by up to 30% and no service history will drop the price up to 25% so potentially it is worth half the value of a straight car with no declaration and a full service history with lots of stamps and pages of dealers invoices

Update on this-we sent the car to auction on a reserve of £900, and it sold for £950. We're not unhappy with that price given the Cat C status and lack of service history. No doubt we could have got more with a private sale, but a lot more hassle.
Thanks to all who offered advice.
