Only for someone like you who wouldn't be capable of a polite phone call. I find auto-renew a easy way to renew my policy, otherwise I give them a quick call and job done.

So, I have now £252 in my bank which I would not have if I followed your advice.

This forum is to help you save money, not fritter it away through laziness.

I don't know if that was directed at me or not, because I sure as hell didn't give out any advice to anyone.

However I've let my insurance auto-renew about 3-4 times before. I went online and did comparisons, checked the cashback website etc yet Directline and Aviva quoted me the cheapest on renewal. Therefore I let it auto-renew. Easy peasy; there was no way I was going to save any money, unless I went with CHEAPOinSURANCE-4-YOUZ.com

I'm not saying it will save you money, however the auto-renew I find useful. I search the market, and if I can't find better I just let it do it's thing. Otherwise, it's a quick call.

I think all companies should auto renew. There's too many cases of people finding they are not insured because they didn't realise they had to ring up to renew their policies. The consequences are much more severe from not being insured than from forgetting to cancel.

    Everyone...
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

Most people that want to understand what they are paying for or buying and then don't complain and moan about a product because they did not read them.:p

The details of auto renewal appear in the renewal letter. It is in the main text on what to do next if you do/do not wish to renew. It is not hidden away. Only those too lazy to read their letters would miss it. And if you cant be bothered to spend 30 seconds reading the letter then you deserve what you get.

My comment had nothing whatsoever to do with reading a letter.
