The economy certainly isn't improving where I live.

There's definitely jobs out there. But unfortunately if you have no qualifications, you end up competing for the same jobs as everyone else with no qualifications.

I can't see how it's the economies fault? The North West doesn't seem to be doing too badly on the Engineering/Technology front.....

Oh YEAH . . . all right if you are armed with loads of qualifications in Engineering and Technology.

No, more like the employers are too choosy.

Too choosy, or other people that make for more attractive employees? Employers want the best, whether that be engineers or retail staff, what makes other people fit their criteria when you do not?

Is there anything wrong with that?

OP, like I said if you REALLY WANTED to work then there are loads of jobs, 45 customer service advisors wanted in central Birkenhead, care workers wanted on Wirral, cleaners wanted in Birkenhead, Morrisons are recruiting various posts in Winsford, Vauxalls are taking on Hundreds of new workers, I could go on but it looks like you don't want to know.

What do you mean, "don't want to know"? I am going to apply for them!
  • Truegho I’ve looked at your post history and most of them are you whinging and moaning about not having a job. Fair enough I understand it must be disheartening.

Trailingspouse typed out a long reply to you which said:

If you post a bit more about yourself - age, previous experience, qualifications and anything else relevant - you will get a more positive response. At the moment you're just coming over as having a bad attitude.

Other people have asked this to, yet you don’t reply. So I will repeat what TS said:

If you post a bit more about yourself - age, previous experience, qualifications and anything else relevant - you will get a more positive response. At the moment you're just coming over as having a bad attitude.

Please do this rather than just ignoring it again.

    100% agree with this.

Luckily for my employees, I'm not the same. Whenever we hire for a new position, I don't choose the best person. I pick one of the middling applicants instead.

A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.

Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.

I have been out and about a great deal in the South West during the Spring and Summer and have noticed a lot of job adverts posted in shops, cafes, car dealers and a few other businesses. Some of them were traditional seasonal work but not all. I have also noticed that the many empty shops that abound in the small market towns (including my own) are starting to have the magic words "Let" . A sure sign that the economy is picking up
