Garage carried out MOT without being asked to

oil and filter are mostly on 20k miles or two years now. Cabin filters can involve half the dashboard out.0

Happy to pay for the oil & cabin filter, not disputing that as it's been done and wasn't expensive, also didn't change amount of labour hours I was charged from the quote so not really a problem.
I will definitely be querying the MOT though, from searching online it seems to be valid and my only issue is that I didn't ask for it to be done. As I now don't need an MOT until next July (assuming it genuinely is valid) perhaps I'll offer them £12 if they won't write it off all together, as 1/3 of the new MOT is all that's any use to me!
I'll also see what they have to say about the log book stamp. I wasn't sure if it was a genuine mistake or if they'd "decided" for me that it was a 3 year service because I was 4 months overdue for the 2 year one, however as the Toyota dealership that I bought from themselves didn't even do the 1 year one until late June 2013 I didn't think it would be an issue!0 -

I you go in talking about 1/3 and happy to pay for the filters etc this will create a admin headache, just go in say works done was not authorized I wont pay for these extra's not authorized and you've also made big mistakes, with my service book. and let them run round sorting it, when you start talking ill give you £12 for this, and that this is when their going to try and wriggle out of it, just stick to basics.0 -
That was mostly a joke!0

Having sat down and had a proper look at the service schedule for the Aygo, the oil & filter change is listed for "intermediate" only (1/3/5/7 etc) which I assume is why it wasn't mentioned initially.
Now, this means it looks as though they only did an intermediate service, not the full 2 year service I requested and was quoted for. If that's the case I'll be expecting them to take it away again and complete the works as requested and I won't be paying them until it's right.0 -
You could be right, there's a lot of things that point to someone thinking that it was year 3 and not having the sense to double check or realise that a 12 reg car can't need an MOT until next year at the earliest.0

Actually £35 for another 8 months MOT & you dont have to faff about in 4 months time seem good value to me. Although they shouldn't have done it. Its about £55 now isnt it?. Cant you offer £20 & see if they take it?0

Only it's not 8 months MOT which doesn't need to be done in 4 months, it's 4 months MOT which doesn't need to be done in 8 months.0
