Can anyone help as I want to change from a contract Vodafone mobile to a PAYG not bothered which network as I use the phone rarely and it's just for emergencies so the top up needs to last as long as possible. : :o:confused:

first of all, is ur current contract with vodafone finish yet? if it has been finished or nearly finish, then call Vodafone and tell them you wish to change your current contract into PAYG.

They should then change it for you, this means your existing number will become a PAYG number.

Most UK payg require a call made or received in 180 days. I don't think the credit expires

I know o2's terms state that you may lose your credit if it's not used at all in 6months. I don't know about the other networks as their T&C aren't as easy to find but I can imagine most networks may do the same after 6months.
  • Hi Sharon,

I think the cheapest PAYG tariffs are easymobile and fresh. I am a happy easymobile customer - good service and only 6p per minute and 2p per text untill end of June. They do charge a small fee if you use less than 5£ in three months but it shouldn't be too difficult to use 5£!

Fresh have similar tariffs but only if you spend 30£ per month with them.

Not sure about what the min term is but I have had a Virgin Sim for over 18 months that wasn't used for 12 months. Checked it a couple of weeks ago and it was still active with just £1 credit on it.

As stated above most providers stipulate that there is some activity (txt or call) every 180 days or so
