I changed to metered billing on 11 March 2014 and I still havent had a bill through. I originally thought I would get monthly bills but this is obviously not that case.

How often do people usually get metered water bills?

depends on the company some are 6 months , some are 3 months and some a mixture of the 2 depending how you pay

You meter will fall into the next billing cycle for your street,

give them a ring they will tell you when its due to be read

Mine with Anglian Water is one every six months - one around May/June and second around November. They are a bit random but as I pay by DD I'm not all that bothered. They seem to read the meter about the end of April and the end of October.
I do however keep an eye on my water meter and record the readings monthly so I can ensure that I'm not either under or over paying on my DD. The main purpose however is to check for any problems.
I noticed a major underground water leak last year only because I read it frequently - I suddenly started losing about 1cu.m a day (we lost about 40cu.m) a quantity that would have undermined my drive and foundations if it had run for too long.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

Am also with Anglian & when I rang to ask why I'd not had a bill at April 1st, was told oh your area is only read once a year & that is July, so now I am expecting a hike in monthly charge as we're now in July.
