EE vs Plusnet Broadband opinions

Hello,

I am moving into my own flat and looking for the best deal on Broadband. EE and Plusnet are the two companies with the best offers but who should I go with.

I will be on my own with one/possibly two devices running at the same time. I am looking to stream Netflix and surf the web peak times. Does anyone have any advice or opinions?

Thanks!

They're both offering a resold BT Wholesale product, so the choice is more down to CS-speeds should be the same.
EE CS is dire in my (admittedly limited) experience, so my choice would be Plusnet.

I would avoid Plusnet at all costs. Recently tried to sign up and had terrible customer service. Router did not arrive; every time I tried to call I was told the current wait would be 45mins+ to speak to customer service; took 14days to reply to my email and then send a standard reply telling me to call them!

I made the mistake of paying upfront for line rental too. Call me a cynic, but I'm pretty sure they didn't send my router so that I couldn't cancel within 14days of ordering as per the Consumer Credit Act...

  • I've been with Plusnet for a couple of years, having had the most appalling service from TalkTalk (whom I will never again touch with a bargepole, no matter what offers they try to tempt me with!). I've found Plusnet to be excellent both in terms of reliability of connection and in terms of ease of contact by email and phone. My only gripe is that the cost seems to be very far from the figures mentioned on the adverts - I'm paying £25-£30 a month. Admittedly we have up to four people in the house using broadband at any given time, but I hardly ever use the landline. I'm definitely thinking of ringing and asking for my MAC code. Has anyone negotiated a good reduction with Plusnet?

Even if the ISP is using BT wholesale backhaul that does not make it a "resold BT wholesale product".

Just before you reach the end of your minimum length "contract" (or now,if you are out of the minimum term)phone their Customer Options team -I'm getting unlimited BB for £6.50 per month on a market 1 exchange plus I'm paying ~ £11.50 pm for line rental by paying 1 year in advance including Evenings and weekend calls; I use 18185 for daytime calls. :)
  • Many thanks brewerdave - I'll give it a go!
