Just dropping in to wish you all the best, AllYours.
My story was quite similar. We planned for me to stay at home until the little one was at school, too, but it didn't work out for me either. My husband left when my kids were nearly 5 and nearly 2. I had in fact gone back to work but only 40% FTE, and I didn't even have a house to pay a mortgage on - I was renting.
You can do this. You have a great attitude, and you will work things out as you go along even if you can't see the way clearly ahead of you yet. Marriage breakdown is horrible - overwhelming and destructive - but there is life afterwards, and you will discover more and more of it.
Good luck. :hello:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Hi allyours, I look forward to following your journey, you sound very determined and I wish you lots of luck. I'll also be subscribing...it sounds like our little ones are about the same age, mine starts pre school in September too.

Good morning and good luck, you are making a great start. Do you know MemoryGirl? She only occasionally posts on MSE now that she is debt free but she has a brilliant blog about being mortgage free in three. She is single with two boys and your story made me think that her blog might be useful for you. I will follow your progress.0

Thank you.
Yes I have read some of her posts, very inspiring... I like the make do and mend attitude. I joined her blog yesterday... and I read the OS frequently, hopefully I shall garner many more tips.
Yesterday was full of small progressions; £4. 12 from an Amazon book sale that went straight as an O/P.
*I activated my new S@ntander bank acc (I joined via Qu1dco and shall hopefully receive the £33 cash-back very soon.)
*I took little one to the library again, she loves her books and goes through them very quickly... she would cost me a fortune if we were not members of the library so a great thanks to libraries and in particular our small but well stocked one.
*We had a play in the garden with a paddling pool and hose pipe... not technically money saving as I am on a meter however my LO loved it and it was nice and refreshing after all the hot sunshine. At dusk I then watered the veggie plot.
*I wrapped several 3bay items, using recycled wrapping paper and newspaper for stuffing.
*We ate produce from the garden for lunch and dinner including homemade coleslaw (grated cabbage, carrot, diced spring onion and mayo,) and new potatoes.
*Refilled water bottle rather than buying a new bottle of water when we were out and about.
*I bought more pegs (£1) so I can get even more stuff on the washing lines.
*Listed five more things on Ebay.
*Began using up some protein shake as a meal replacement. I shall only have a couple of these a week as I much prefer healthy fresh cooked meals however I am not wasting it at £18 a tub. (It was my son's... but he doesn't like the chocolate flavour.)
*Started planning a gluten free birthday cake to make on Saturday for my Aunt's birthday on Sunday. It is going to be a chocolate hedgehog as she loves garden animals... these little fellow's in particular.
Today's plans...
*More washing on the line to dry in this lovely sunny weather.
*More Ebay stuff to photograph/list/wrap/post.
*Clean the kitchen; it's small but still takes a good couple of hours....urgh!! But it has to be done.
*Menu plan and place an Asda order. I have £50 to last the next two weeks (including pull-up nappies and dog food) so I shall have to plan carefully.
*Read library books with LO.
Anything else that is even vaguely money saving/making I shall add later...
Have a lovely Friday everyone... don't forget your suncreamx

Morning all,
I am quite a busy bee today... painting the hallway woodwork and bannister, cutting the lawn, waiting in for @sda food order, gutting the LO's bedroom and making a birthday cake.
Today's money saving/making plans are:
*Use produce from garden towards meals
* Enter photograph competition
*Use up past it tomatoes in fridge for bolognaise sauce
*Replace two of my many coffees for herbal tea. I have several boxes to use up... I am sure they are a lot better for me too.
*Finish making fabric hand-bag for/with little one.
*Register S@ntander account online, I had problems with it yesterday.
*Chase up a non-paying 3bayer.
*Photo and list at least three 3bay items.
*Go down favourite links on computer and have a serious cull.
*Ebay or charity bag any unused/ non-age applicable toys of LOs.
*Put some fairy cakes in oven whilst birthday cake cooks.
*Turn off Tv and play with LO for an hour on the floor with her newly given jigsaws and puzzles.
*Talk dog and LO for a nice walk in the errrr rain.... at least it's not cold.
I hope you all have a lovely Saturday. xx0 -
Hi All yours
Just popping by to wish you all the best. You seem very focused and determined.
You have probably done this but I would check to ensure you are claiming all the benefits you are entitled to whilst your income is low and now you are single.
Good luck

Sounds like a very busy day! At least the weather outside isn't tempting today
