Hi

I've had my Samsung galaxy 3 for a few weeks now on contract. Today I've been getting lots of ads through. I've not had any before. Why is this and can I get rid of them? thanks

Free games are very often ad supported. If you're not keen they often have a paid option without ads.

did you get it from carphone warehouse by any chance?

I am having the same problem (txt message adverts and even worse cold caller phone calls!)

I am fuming I NEVER give my mobile number out to any outside company (only friends and family). I took out a contract direct with O2 a couple of years ago and everything was fine, last month I took my contract out with carphone warehouse. I am now getting phone calls on my mobiel whilst at work, which I answer as it might be urgent (i am not suppose to but work turn a blind eye if not done regularly and its important) only to find its a cold caller trying to sell me something . I never gave them permission to sell my number I also check thoroughly what I sign and what boxes to tick to avoid this!

If it's an app, not some online game, you can just switch mobile data or wifi off when playing.

It could have come from anywhere, it may even be an automated system that starts as 07000 000000 then tries 07000 000001 and so on. If you saw the BBC2 callcentre program you'll see how they have loads of people calling as many numbers as they can.

It could be CPW but it could just be an accident of timing. You can also lof it with the TPS but that will only stop companies who operate in the UK and actually respect the TPS list.
