Hello Lee,

I'm wondering if you'd be able to help me at all?

My tariff is due to expire in November 2014; my initial line rental is £62.00/month (inc. VAT) but I get a discount taking my payments down to £43.40/month.

If I contacted you to terminate my agreement early, which figure would you work on? The full line rental? Or the discounted payment?

I appreciate your help; I'm loathed to leave early because it's hardly money saving by cancelling early.

Awaiting your reply.

Thanks,
Neil

You terminate at the full price of the contract before any discounts.

Contract discounts are not reflected in the early termination charges.

Thanks. Does the ETF include or exclude VAT?

You don't pay VAT on the early termination charges because you will not be receiving a service.

Remaining months left, Contract at the full price before any discounts, take off 2% discount and VAT.

As a general statement this is arguable, but Vodafone indeed deduct 1/6 from the full price.

Thank you for all of your help thus far.

My contract expires in November 2014.

So if I waited until my next billing date has lapsed next month and my line rental is £51.67 (before VAT) I'd be right in thinking 3 x £51.67 less 2% is: £151.91?

Generally, the billing cycle doesn't necessarily start on the first day of the contract.

OK, I wasn't sure. I'll contact Vodafone next month and see what they come back with.
