I wonder if they are going to make this a regular condition in their comps - ie to have a home visit? Seems a little unfair to those who want to enter and wouldn't mind a home visit but they cannot be home at that time due to work commitments!

If you are at home to watch the programme and see the competition promoted it's possibly considered there is a fair chance you would be at home watching most days. (It certainly increases the chances of regular viewers winning)

You'd know the week before that you were 1 of 10 winners. You just have arrange to potentially be late those mornings. Or, didn't I see in the terms they coudl visit your workplace?

This will take the form of the Good Morning Britain production team visiting their home address or other address (e.g. work place) to reveal which prize they have won.

I feel exactly the same. Appearing on TV and telling the world that I've just won some money doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.

So I wrote them an email to say that I would not be entering this competition or any future competition where they expect you to appear live on TV to receive the prize. :p

I haven't had a substantive reply yet, but they did tell me they'd passed my feedback on to their interactive team.

Anybody who feels the same way should also send them an email at itvihelp@itv.com

If enough people tell them that they won't be entering such competitions then they hopefully won't do it again. They know which side their bread is buttered. Losing revenue for the sake of a gimmick wouldn't be worth it.

I don't really understand why they would suddenly take this tack anyway. The ITV competitions are as popular as ever, as far as I can tell. It must be some desperate attempt to give GMB a ratings boost by becoming more interactive or something.

But I certainly won't enter any competition where Andi Peters or any other Z-lister might end up turning up on my doorstep.

And if enough people tell them they feel the same way, hopefully this will just be a one-off.

Never thought of this until now but I bet winners could be targeted by burglars! You hear of burglars scanning Facebook profiles for people saying they are going away on their hols (so they know their home will be vacant!) etc so it wouldn't surprise me for burglars to be on the look out for ITV winners! money-pile-smiley-emoticon.gif

Telling them you don't like it will probably make no difference (almost certainly will not if you use free web entry), the revenue raised from the competition is what counts.
