Is this a good quote for Solar?

The point about the difference between investing and keeping the deposit and losing the lump sum and getting no return for 12 years (on my projections) is very well made.
It would be interesting to see your assumptions for a 12 year break even point on a low output of 2,421kWh.
Not saying you are wrong, but to get that timescale you have to make assumptions on:
1. Inflation rate
2. Fuel inflation rate
3. amount of electricity you will use in house
4. Cost of electricity(kWh) now.
5. Interest rate on savings
6. Cost of any repairs e.g. new inverter.0 -

Hi,
Thanks for this, I can now see it is an over optimistic model (provided by the installer). It is based on last year's electricity use which was on an old more expensive tariff - I have since moved tariffs and bills are cheaper. It doesn't allow for repairs. It does assume 2% pa inflation.
Thanks,

Hi Gary
It's quite easy once you know how.
First pin your location on the map
Under installed peak power put 2(2kWp E/2kWp W)
Slope is the pitch of your roof, its set as a standard 35 deg, just change to suit
Under Azimuth first put in -90 for the east facing roof and then click calculate
You'll see a box pop up with a year total at the bottom(left hand figure)
Rinse and repeat then using 90(west) and add the 2 totals
As for shading, there's plenty of ways to manage shading, either with solaredge or micros.
In effect they both manage the panels separately rather than in a string which is the common way of installing for houses without shading.
It DOESN'T come at much more of a premium either so don't be fobbed off with expensive quotes
If I'm doing this right, it comes to 1390 and 1380 which is 2770?0 -
That sounds more like it
Edit,
That adds around £50 a year to your return2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -
My quote also refers to 75/71% annual shading which I guess is quite a lot? The thing about the trees is that at this time of year they provide no shade as they are bare and in the summer the sunlight hits the roof above the trees.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50

Sounds like they are making a killing in charging something like £2,000 more than many other firms.
Do your 'sums' carefully. especially with only 2,421kWh from a 3.99kWp system?? Where are you in UK?I live in Leeds and the roofs face West and EastWorth asking whoever it was that generated that quote to explain why they think shading is likely to be so bad. They may of course be correct - in which case you might be able to prune offending tree or drop height of a chimney stack etc etc. .
I've asked the question but suspect that, with Xmas etc, I won't get a reply too soon. It's starting to strike me that it is a bit rash to go for this to avoid the FIT cut. I now have another issue which is that someone has looked at the roof. The house is 100 years old and never, as far as I know been re-roofed. We have Rosemary tiles and so no felt. This person said that at some point the roof will leak and it would make more sense to get the roof done before solar panels are put on.
As I said, I'm just starting to feel that solar panels are not currently the right option for me? As before, thanks for everyone's advice and any more would be gratefully received.0
