LEft shop with phone but not passed credit check

I went to carphone warehouse 2 weeks ago to upgrade 3 phones from orange to EE with iphone 5c's. All went through ok in the shop and one handset was working with the number transferred over the following day.


However the other 2 did not change over. I called carphone warehouse and EE but they said there had been issues with a new system and they would have to be manually upgraded. I waited and waited and after many calls I have been told by EE that I did not pass the credit check for those 2 !


What do I do now? Carphone warehouse have lied to me over the past 2 weeks and have said numerous times the phones will be connected by 10 o'clock with no indication it was because of a failed credit check which in the shop they said I had passed.


I now have 2 iphone 5c's that they let me walk out with. So should I keep the Orange contacts and use the iphones that they let me walk out with. (EE confirmed no bill will made for them phones through the upgrade) or do I ring Carphone warehouse tell them I failed the credit check - info they should know and change the phones to be on orange?

    Normally you will have to return the handsets and apply for new/upgrade contracts with Orange. CPW would then give you new handsets.

    Or, CPW may let you keep the handsets you have and just change the order over. But only CPW will be able to tell you that.

    They can't "change the phones to be on orange", and this isn't needed.
    If you failed the credit check and remain on the old contract, most likely they would want the phones back.

    It's a different question, what they can do if you refuse.

    Do straight forward upgrades require a credit check, they didn't when I worked for orange albeit 10 years ago?
  • Thanks for the super fast replies! I called 150 and the lady said that I had failed the credit check to move to EE but that I still have the orange contract to fall back on and I can upgrade staying on Orange.

    With regards to the upgrade that's great. The phones, though, belong to CPW so you will need to speak with them with regards to what they want you to do with them
