I work on the opposite assumption - that any hotel or restaurant I visit to going to have a higher standard of hygiene than I do at home0 -
I always clean cups, coffee makers etc before using them as I have awful visions of what they may have been used for.0

I have seen people clean rooms in a hurry at hotels, they use the same old cloth to dust, do round the sink, the toilet seat (if your really unlucky), round the taps and of course the mugs. When really essential they stop briefly to run it under a tap and then squeeze it out then off they go again...
Always boil rinse and wash them yourself and you may survive until breakfast.0 -

I personally always sleep in a full nuclear bio-chemical suit, utilising freshly sterilised breathing aparatus of course.
If however im having my nbc suit dry cleaned i take my own team of geishas who i use as a human barrier to all the germs and dirty cups etc etcLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
