  • Good morning everyone :)

Hello and welcome to newbies/lurkers :hello:

We had torrential rain from yesterday afternoon all the way through the night but the sun is shining again now so it looks like the barbecue can go ahead.

DH is eating curry leftovers for brekkie, I think I will stick with yoghurt and granola. Need to make a potato salad for the barbecue to use up potatoes and spring onions in the fridge.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

  • Hey Guys!!

    Hope you're all doing ok?

I've been missing MSE and things have been difficult, stuff has changed which I don't really want to talk about too much as its deep and painful, but I'm still breathing:D

We really need to sort out our mealplans again, not so much for money saving, but more for eating better and getting back into a routine. My health is worse and I spend the majority of my time in our bedroom and rarely get out. My weight has plummeted again, so need to get on top of that. Businesses still doing okay and I'm working from my laptop if needed.

DD is back at home, but still at Uni, well broken up now till Sept, but has been seeing the MH team as she's been diagnosed with bipolar and anxiety. Its been tough, I can tell you.....but we'll muddle through as we always do.

I am going to try and get on here more regular as I think I need the support from others and as its difficult to get out, I'm kind of reliant to online and although I've had a few negative experiences on MSE, the majority has been good/ok.

I've still been using voucher codes and OH using coupons etc on products we've bought and always check out mysupermarket to make sure we're getting the best best deals;)....we've also cut down the sky as the offers finished, but moved out internet to them and phone, but now have NowTv box which works to £9 a month with all films and entertainment package and we get it before sky customers do...so result really. Still use Quidco, so as you can see, still have my MSE quirks inbuilt:rotfl:

    Today:

Breakfast: I had raspberries from the garden and half a FR sandwich and will have the other half later.

Lunch: Other half sandwich and protein drink

Dinner: HM Shepherds Pie & veggies leftover in fridge

    Thinking of you all.

    PP

    Good Mornng everyone :hello:

I am waiting here for my grand daughter to turn up. She is allowed to walk from her house to mine all on her own today...it's all of 12 doors away :D so her mum is going to phone me when she leaves and stay on the phone till she arrives. It's a big step letting your little ones go but it has to be done if you want independent children. My youngest will be starting secondary school in September so this will be her first summer of going to town on her own and using the buses.

The crisis team are putting me on a 'back burner' for now in case I relapse but I feel ok. They have been a real help but I can't believe how close I came to being admitted so I must learn to take better care of myself. I will have a CPN for a while which will be helpful too.

OS wise, I need to hang my head in shame! I haven't done very much except keep up with the washing but I will be making plans for next week. I may follow the flyladies as it gives a great structure to the week and they seem like a friendly bunch :). I will be batch cooking a few meals too as we finally have a bit of room in our freezers.

Welcome to LilyPlonk and WantAnOrange, and hello to all the lurkers too .
Hope you all manage to have a lovely day whatever you are up to. Take care xx
  • Oh DUMPLING please don't hang the head, we all do the best we can to be OS but it's not a sin to NOT be OS in every aspect of life 100% of the time, in fact it's almost not possible!!! I'd stand up and be proud of what you DO achieve rather than feel bad about what you don't, Lyn xxx.

    Morning all,

Welcome to new people and returnees! Lovely to see you posting again pp, sorry to hear about health issues for you and your daughter.

I am afraid that my posts are very uninteresting as a good day for me is being able to do household chores, which I don't think is very interesting to read about for you all!

So on that note, my plan for today is to count up the loose change in my purse. July is being an expensive month so I am down to loose change for groceries. I was excited as I found a £10 note hidden in a receipt.

I am planning on doing some more crochet granny squares for a blanket which I hope to have completed by autumn.

    Take care all.

  • Hello all x

Penny-pincher, at the risk of sounding stalkerish, I looked you up on here last night as I hadn't seen you on here for a while x you look after yourself. Hope your daughter gets the help she needs.

Dumpling you look after yourself as well xxx

It's amazing how many of us have mental health issues. I'm quite open with mine and I've found it helps others, as there are many people suffering in silence as there is still a stigma with mental health problems. I'm ok for now. I'm on Prozac and will always be. If anyone ever wants to chat, inbox me x

This morning I've been to asda. I do get annoyed with indulgent parents. There was a man letting his small son push the trolley and at one point the little boy was spinning the trolley around and around. These people think their kids are cute, they are not! A bit of discipline wouldn't go amiss. It makes me more cross cos Small Child is quite hard to discipline due to his autism but I certainly don't use it as an excuse. Although the little monkey is currently jumping off the arm of the sofa onto the sofa. And will not blooming well stop. Mr Harket ( ;-) ) has taken him away from the sofa.

The weather has cleared up now, it was torrential rain earlier.

I've defrosted a small pork joint thing that's been in the freezer since Xmas. I've no idea how to cook it. So I shall just roast it & hope for the best.

Right, lunch is ready (a reduced cheese and onion pasty, classy...)

    Love, hugs and spoons xxx

Hi everyone.....not posted for a while but read this thread everyday. I realise this question probably should be on 'health forum', but you are all so helpful on here that I'm sure someone will have some advice.....
I've had sciatica for about 3 months now, affecting my right leg and foot, mainly first thing in morning and later in the day with twinges in between. Until yesterday morning.....woke up and got out of bed and fell over! My leg was in agony....pins and needles together with what felt like a massive muscle spasm in back of calf and thigh. Took paracetamol and ibuprofen. Finally got going and made it in to our local, very small hospital to ask for painkillers. Was given one codeine tablet and told to buy paracetamol and codeine. Have been taking these ibuprofen, but pain has hardly eased......just as bad again this morning. I have got appointment with physio tomorrow afternoon but have to try to make it into work first. Any advice on what I can take or do.........?

Hello all. I did not get round to posting this morning.
Washing on the line. Danced with Dyson a bit. Dusted a bit.

Looked in greenhouse and watered the plants. A careful time for tomatoes. They need plenty of water as the tomatoes are swelling/getting large.

I have been on my desk top computer for a few hours. Bits and bobs.
Completed some surveys and claimed a £10 Amazon voucher.

Just going to sit in the garden and have some lunch. I like to spend some time out there as all winter we are inside more because of the cold/rainy weather.

3pm and time to think about food again! = put the oven on.
I have half a large pork to cook for roast dinner. Other half went in freezer.

Wile the oven is on ...my faverote saying. Saving the pennies need to fill the oven.
So have defrosted a gammon joint from freeezer. Was 5.98 YS 2.92. (pound sign does not seem to work on my mini ipad).
The gammon I have an idea to slice up for sandwiches next week instead of buying packet sandwich meat. Maybe another dinner? maybe use on HM ham and cheese pizza. Unsure yet.

Right! must get on and peel some spuds for roast taties.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

dp1 I would do nothing until you've seen the physio, sciatica is just a symptom, you need to find out what's causing it. I know what's causing mine and have specific exercises for it, I would think those same exercises would cause a huge problem if it was a spine issue.

Of all the things that made life difficult, getting in and out of cars was the biggest for me, it was really painful. Try and get the day off work, if you can't then use the bus instead the car, you have to be so careful getting from sitting position to standing and vice versa. Please please be careful xx

Dp1 my DH has leg pain from a nerve being compressed between two spinal discs. Until you get to physio just dose up on regular pain killers, don't try anything experimental in case you make it worse!
    Good luck :)
