    Hi there.

The first point is that you need to face up to the harsh reality that as you know, you are not earning nearly enough to cover your expenses. Even without the loan payment, you need to increase your income or decrease your outgoings. Your biggest expense is your house and without an income you simply can’t afford to continue meeting the payments as there is nothing else to cut back on. The house isn’t big enough to allow you to rent out a spare room to raise funds. Bottomline, is there any other way you can increase your income??

What would be the chance of you getting regualr part-time work - over 16 hours a week?

Given the age of son 2, is there anywhere that you can get the free sessions of child care that oyou are entitled to.

Not getting Housing Benefit as I was sacked (for having a breakdown, but that's a whole other kettle of fish).

Apparently it kicks in after 9 months which is now!!!

Can you follow this up with the benefits people by phone this week?

You really need this money ASAP.

Experian - the pass number has come in the post so I'll have another look at it later.

The 2 payments - I did say I would pay MCS £33 per month. The HSBC £21 was set up without my knowledge. It was only when I was going through my statements because my house insurance had accidentally taken 2 lots of money in one go, that I saw I was paying money to HSBC......

Re: court - when the ex left, I was in a lot more debt than I am now. At the moment its £9,800 (just the MCS loan). When he left, it was well over £20,000. He has no savings and had 11 jobs in the 6 years we were married, none of which lasted for more than 3 months. I doubt he will ever work now so I don't think it would be worth my while chasing him. And I do own a whole house :-)

Son is 3, but will be 4 next week so will be going to school in September. However, he will be going part time until January as he is so young. After that, it will be much easier for me to get a job. There will be a problem in that I won't get a reference from my last job (was there 10 years). But have some qualification, clean driving licence etc.

Will look online at statement later to see if my housing benefit has started. Can't do much more at the mo, tea is on the go.

    Right

so these were direct debits not standing orders? They cannot set these up without your authority. If you did not sign to authorise this, they are at fault?

it is not strictly kosher, but was there anyone with whom you worked who would give you a reference, rather then HR? Also could you do agency work in that profession for a while?

    Hmmm.

I've just looked on CreditExpert (Experian) and found lots of information about myself, previous 3 addresses etc. Then it has my bank account, one loan that I paid off, and my mortgage. My mortgage says: In last 36 months, number of status 1-2 is: 1 number of status 3+ is: 0

I don't know what that means.

HOWEVER....... I had a big overdraft with Lloyds that was taken into collections. I paid it off in my mad paying off everything spree in 2005 - but there is no mention of that!!!

ALSO.... the MCS thing should surely show up on my credit rating - but its not on there either!

Or am I looking in the wrong place?

No sign of housing benefit having been paid :-( so will phone on Monday to query.

Have also checked with MCS/HSBC and my statements says they were standing orders. But I know I did not agree to have a 2nd payment taken each month.

Re: my job - I am in the middle of changing profession and back at college. I am doing voluntary work and could get references from there, which would be fine as long as no one phones my previous employers!

P.S The ex's name is all over the credit report, how do I get him deleted?! He is actually off the mortgage (got signed over properly) and off the Land Registry stuff.

Never seen mine but I understand that you have paid the mortgage late (one month or so) once and that you have never been seriously in arrear (3 months or more).

The overdraft with Lloyds was in collection until late 2005 but was then cleared. So when they removed the default, did it take effect immediately?

And I've been with MCS for more than 6 years, so maybe that is why its not showing up?

The credit check looked a lot better than I thought it would!

Yes, one late payment of the mortgage in the last 8 years. They must have let me off 1 because I contacted them and started to repay (in stages) straight away.
